ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T men's basketball coach
Bill Walker has announced the addition of Lovell Williams, a guard who played the last two seasons at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, to the Miner roster for the 2022-23 season.
Williams, a 6-2 guard from Rogers, Minn., in the Twin Cities region, was named to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's first team following the 2021-22 campaign while playing at UW-Stout. Williams finished third in the WIAC in scoring with an average of 18.3 points per game and tied for the conference lead in assists with 5.3 per contest as he recorded 127 on the season.
A starter in all 24 games, Williams shot 46.5 percent from the field, 42.1 percent from three-point range – making 53-of-126 – and 84.3 percent at the free throw line. He also averaged 4.6 rebounds per game and made 47 steals. In nine games during his freshman season – the Blue Devils played just nine games that season -- Williams averaged 12 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. He will have three seasons of eligibility at Missouri S&T.
"Lovell is a battle-tested player who has had a terrific first two years at UW-Stout," Walker said. "He has a tremendous all-around offensive skill set and is also a tough defender. He will blend in well with our returning players and other newcomers. He is exactly the type of student-athlete that we want in our program."
Williams is the third newcomer to the Miner roster for the 2022-23 season, joining incoming freshmen Alex Benassi from Lee's Summit High School and Andrew Young from Marquette High School in St. Louis.
