ROLLA, Mo. -- The last time Missouri S&T played at Gibson Arena, it left the floor sporting a three-game winning streak. But after losing back-to-back games on the road over the last two weeks, the Miners will look to get back into the win column this weekend at home when it hosts McKendree and Missouri-St. Louis in Great Lakes Valley Conference contests.
The Miners will take on McKendree Thursday at 7:30 p.m., before UMSL comes to town for Saturday's 3 p.m. game on Military Appreciation Day at Gibson Arena. Current or retired members of the military and their immediate families will be admitted to Saturday's game free of charge. Following the UMSL game Saturday, the Miners head back to the road for three straight games beginning with a make-up game at 7:30 p.m. Monday against Lindenwood in St. Charles, Mo.
Missouri S&T enters play this week with records of 9-11 overall and 5-8 in the GLVC and is coming off a tough loss Saturday at Maryville, where it overcame a 17-point deficit in the second half to take the lead with under two minutes to play, only to fall on a basket by the Saints' Kelvin Swims with 13 seconds to play that sent the Miners to a 73-72 defeat.
S&T got a big day from
Dylan Singleton (Lincoln, IL/Lincoln) in the loss, as he scored a career-high 21 points with a five-of-seven performance from three-point range. He was one of three Miners to score in double figures, with
Julien Smith (Fort Worth, TX/Northwest) adding 14 points and
Kaden Froebe (Lincoln, IL/Lincoln) 12.
Smith continues to lead the GLVC in scoring with an average of 20.2 points per game and has made 70 three-point baskets, the second-most in the conference behind the 71 made by Truman State's Masen Miller. Smith is in a position to move among the top 10 for three-pointers in a season, needing just three more to reach that list.
Froebe comes into the game with an average of 11.4 points per game and leads S&T with 52 assists and 40 steals, while
Alex Strating (Wassenaar, Netherlands/American School of the Hague) is scoring 10.7 points and has also dished out 50 assists.
ABOUT McKENDREE: The Bearcats bring records of 11-6 overall and 7-6 in the GLVC into Thursday's contest after they dropped an 88-83 decision in double overtime Monday to Southwest Baptist in Lebanon, Ill. Julien Smith (Fort Worth, TX/Northwest) with an average of 19.8 points per game; he has led or led the team lead in scoring in 14 consecutive games, including outings of 32 poiints against Quincy and 30 against William Jewell along the way. Bultman is shooting 51.8 percent from the field while also leading McKendree in assists with 62 while pulling down six rebounds per contest.

McKendree has connected on 37.4 percent of its three-point shots this season and has made 8.5 per game, led by Oliver Stephen's 37. Four Bearcats have made at least 23 three-point baskets on the year.
ABOUT MISSOURI-ST. LOUIS: The Tritons have been in a battle with Truman State for the top spot in the GLVC's Central Division, where they currently trail the Bulldogs by one-half game heading into the weekend. UMSL played three games in four days over the past weekend, sandwiching wins over Drury and Rockhurst around a loss Saturday to Southwest Baptist.
UMSL, 15-6 overall and 9-5 in the GLVC, is paced by the trio of Marty Jackson, Yaakema Rose and Jose Grubbs, all of whom are averaging in double figures in the scoring column.
