ROLLA, Mo. – Jane Grimley, who has spent the last four seasons serving as the associate head coach for the women's soccer program at Goldey-Beacom College, has been named as the new head women's soccer coach at Missouri S&T.
Grimley, who will assume the duties on Feb. 28, has served in her role since completing her playing career at Goldey-Beacom – an NCAA Division II institution in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference – and has helped lead the team to a 48-24-4 overall record and 34-11-2 mark in conference play during those four seasons.
"I couldn't be more excited for this opportunity. Coming from a program that experienced similar growth, I know this team is on the brink of something special, especially after the most recent season," Grimley said. "It is a critical time for the program and I am honored and thrilled to be the person to take this on, building upon the previous successes to arise as a consistently strong competitor in the Great Lakes Valley Conference."
"We are looking forward to having Jane join our department and lead our women's soccer program," said Missouri S&T director of athletics
Melissa Ringhausen. "We had a number of impressive candidates and she rose to the top of the pool. She is an enthusiastic and passionate coach and will hit the ground running building on the recent success of the team. We are excited to have her and welcome her into the Miner family."
In her four seasons on the Goldey Beacom staff, the Lightning won at least 10 games in each of them, including a 15-win season in 2018 and reached the semifinals of the CACC Tournament in three of the four seasons. She coached Jenna Fannon, the CACC's Player of the Year and NCAA Division II's top goal scorer in the 2019 campaign as well as two players named as the conference's "Rookie of the Year" and one named as the top defensive player in that league.
Grimley was responsible for numerous duties in her role as associate head coach, including organizing and working practices, recruiting, execution of events such as identification clinics, camps and fundraisers and conducting film sessions. She also helped with pre- and post-game operational duties within the team.
In 2019, Grimley was recognized by the United Soccer Coaches – the national organization for soccer coaches – as a recipient of the "30 Under 30" award. She has her United States Soccer Federation D license and is completing work on her C license, while also completing Part I of her advanced national diploma from the United Soccer Coaches.
Besides her duties on the Goldey Beacom staff, Grimley has also worked with Sporting Delaware as a head coach, where she works with youth club programs in the state and has led the Under-16 team to the fourth-most wins in the Mid-Atlantic region during the 2021 fall season. She has also worked with the Olympic Development Program in Delaware and as a staff coach with the Philadelphia Union youth program, where she has executed camps, clinics and virtual sessions for several age groups and observed the Under-17 Academy boy's program on a recurring basis.
Before going into coaching, Grimley was a four-year player at Goldey-Beacom and in 65 career games, recorded 10 goals – three of which were game-winners – and six assists for 26 points. She earned the CACC's Player of the Week award during her career and was a member of the conference's fall academic Honor Roll. On the field, after her team won two games during her freshman season, Goldey-Beacom improved to a 12-win team by her senior year and following that season was named as the recipient of the team's coaches award.
Last season, Missouri S&T finished with records of 9-6-3 overall and 7-4-3 in the GLVC and advanced to the semifinal round of the GLVC Tournament, where it lost in overtime to eventual tournament champion Drury.
