ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's women's soccer team closes out its home schedule this weekend still clinging to a chance to make the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, as it will play host to Lewis and Indianapolis to wrap up the regular season slate.
Entering Friday's 5 p.m. match against Lewis at Allgood-Bailey Stadium -- which will be Pink Night at S&T for Breast Cancer Awareness -- the Miners sit four points behind the team currently in eighth place, Missouri-St. Louis. The Miners have eight points based on their 2-6-2 record in GLVC play – S&T is 2-7-4 overall – but have a win over the Tritons and would win a tiebreaker over UMSL if the teams tie for the eighth spot.
However, Quincy is between S&T and UMSL in the standings and if the Hawks win of their two games this weekend, the Miners would have to win both games to overtake Quincy. S&T's second game of the weekend will be on Sunday when it faces Indianapolis at noon at the S&T Soccer Field.
The Miners dropped a pair of 1-0 decisions last week, losing to McKendree after the Bearcats scored in the eighth minute of play and to Maryville, when the Saints got the winning tally in the 77
th minute.
Ally Hasken (Freeport, IL/Freeport) leads the Miners in scoring with three goals and six points, while
Sydney Gratz (Geneva, IL/Geneva) has two goals and an assist on the year. Seven players have scored for the Miners this season, including
