LEBANON, Ill. – Facing McKendree for the second time this season, Missouri S&T's soccer team allowed an early goal that stood up as the Great Lakes Valley Conference-leading Bearcats handed the Miners a 1-0 loss Friday evening at Leemon Field.
Anna Stiffler scored the only goal of the contest in the eighth minute of play as she scored on a shot from about 20 yards away into the lower right corner of the net.
S&T goalkeeper
Viktoria Johnson (Granite City, IL/Granite City) held firm in goal after that early tally, as the Bearcats (11-0-3, 7-0-2 GLVC) outshot the Miners (2-6-4, 2-5-2 GLVC) 22-1 overall and had all 10 shots on net; Johnson made saves on the other nine to keep the Miners in the contest.
The Miners' lone shot in the contest was credited to
Beth Roberts (Lake St. Louis, MO/Liberty) in the opening half.
Missouri S&T, who had played to a 1-1 draw with the Bearcats in Rolla in September, will play its final regular season road contest Sunday when it faces Maryville in a noon contest in St. Louis.
