ROLLA, Mo. – The Missouri S&T women's soccer team will look to get back to their winning ways this weekend as they wrap up their three game homestand this weekend by welcoming Southwest Baptist and Rockhurst to the Missouri S&T Soccer Field this weekend.
The Miners (2-2-1, 1-1-1) are coming off a 1-0-1 weekend with a 5-0 win on the road against William Jewell and a scoreless double overtime draw Sunday against Truman State. Goalkeeper
Kristin Steins (Ballwin, MO/Parkway South), who posted a shutout with seven saves Sunday and also notched two saves in the combined shutout Friday night, is coming off her first career GLVC Defensive Player of the Week Award and has made 19 saves against 52 shots faced thus far in 339:13 of action this season. Offensively,
Sydney Gratz (Geneva, IL/Geneva) leads the team with four goals, with two coming against WJC, along with three assists.
Lily Chung (Cottleville, MO/Francis Howell Central) has two goals and an assist, while
Melanie Kulig (Belleville, IL/Belleville West) has scored and assisted on another goal. Ally Haskin,
Danielle Hopkins (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley),
Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) and
Paige VanDaele (Cottleville, MO/Francis Howell Central) all have one goal for the Miners through five matches.
Southwest Baptist (1-2-1, 1-1-0) is coming off of a home loss against Rockhurst Sunday after opening GLVC play with a win over William Jewell. The Bearcats lone goal this season belongs to Raegan Edwards and Madison Geren has tallied an assist. Alli Harrington has seen all the action in goal for SBU this season, allowing just two goals and recording 24 saves against 59 shots faced and posted a pair of shutouts.
Rockhurst (2-4-0, 1-1-0) will head to St. Louis Friday to take on Maryville before swinging through Rolla on their return trip to Kansas City. The Hawks fell 1-0 to Drury in their GLVC opener before knocking off SBU 1-0 over the weekend. Olivia Schwarzen has two of Rockhurst's four goals this season, with Elle Guttmann and Olivia Van Belle scoring one each. Gabby Hennessy, Elle Kimball and Alex Moss each have assist this season. Three different netminders have seen time for the Hawks this season, with Taylor James seeing the majority of the action, posting a 1.50 GAA and making 21 saves against 52 shots faced. Megan Meyers has seen time in two matches and made four saves against 18 shots while Alyssa Kerperien has five saves in her limited action.
Last spring, the Miners dropped a 3-0 decision on the road to the Hawks before knocking off the Bearcats in Bolivar by a score of 2-0, getting goals from
Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) and
Kaitlyn Schwandtner (Tebbetts, MO/Jefferson City).
