Miners Open Week at Lincoln Before Hosting Maryville, Lindenwood in Weekend Series

ROLLA, MO- The Miners (4-18, 4-8 GLVC) have a full week ahead of them starting tomorrow on the road at Lincoln University in Jefferson City and then back home this weekend to host Maryville and Lindenwood.

S&T struggled this past weekend against the Hawks of Qunicy University. After falling to QU 9-1 in the opening game of the series, the Miners found themselves down 2-1 in the 3rd inning after Holli Finnell (Nolensville, TN/Nolensville) singled to left field and brought Maddy Passolano (Mokena, Ill./Lockport Township) across home plate. But, Quincy would add four combined runs through the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings to take the 6-1 win.

For the season, five S&T batters are batting over .300; Kate Baxter (New Bloomfield, MO/New Bloomfield), Chloe Saltijeral (/North Aurora, Ill.), Holli Finnell (Nolensville, TN/Nolensville), Taylor Caton (Ballwin, Mo/Parkway West), and Maddy Passolano (Mokena, Ill./Lockport Township), who is leading the charge with a .371 average while four of them combine for the team's nine homeruns so far this season.

In the pitcher's circle, Bryn Wooldridge (Salisbury, Mo./Salisbury), Charlye Rowland (Pearcy, Ark./Lake Hamilton), and Kate Baxter (New Bloomfield, MO/New Bloomfield) have been the go-to-'s for the Miners with Rowland leading the way with 25 strikeouts.

Lincoln (4-21-1, 2-12 MIAA) is coming off back-to-back losses to Northeastern State this past weekend that saw them get outscored by the River Hawks 16-4.

For the season, Emily Williams leads the Blue Tigers in the batter's box with a .333 average, 22 hits, and 13 RBI while Jacqueline Marquez is not far behind her with a .324 batting average.

Maddie Welker, Tressa Hughes, and Ashton Stalling have been the constants for Lincoln in the pitcher's circle with Welker leading the way with a 3.43 ERA and picking up two of the team's wins.

Maryville (8-7, 6-4 GLVC) is currently on a three-game winning streak that was extended after they swept the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist this past weekend. The Saints put up 20 runs between the two games and held SBU to just one run the entire day.

Taylor Shingler has been the big bat for the Saints this season with 20 hits in 40 at-bats for a .500 average and 10 runs scored.

Alyssa Callans has been the big talk of Maryville; she has posted a 0.97 ERA in 10 appearances and a 6-3 record to start the season. She has added in 83 strikeouts and given up just two homeruns while holding her opponents to a .167 batting average against her.

Lindenwood (17-5-1, 10-4 GLVC) is coming off a split series with Lewis this past weekend. After dropping the first game 1-0 to the Flyers, the Lions came back with a bang; after scoring six runs in the first two innings, Lindenwood would come away with the 8-0 win.

Ceairra Perez leads the team with a .414 batting average with 29 hits and 15 runs scored while Amanda Weyh has recorded a 0.98 ERA in 14 appearances and a 7-3 record in the pitcher's circle.
