ROLLA, MO- The S&T softball team (4-16, 4-6 GLVC) is looking to get back in the win column this weekend when they host the Hawks of Quincy University this Saturday afternoon.
The Miners are coming off a rough doubleheader against Drury this past weekend; the Panthers would take both games by the final scores of 10-0 and 12-2.
S&T's lone runs of the day came in game two when
Taylor Caton (Ballwin, Mo/Parkway West) and
Chloe Saltijeral (/North Aurora, Ill.) both recorded an RBI each.
For the season,
Maddy Passolano (Mokena, Ill./Lockport Township) and
Taylor Caton (Ballwin, Mo/Parkway West) have been the constants for the Miners in the batter's box while
Holli Finnell (Nolensville, TN/Nolensville) leads the team with four homeruns in 50 plate appearances.
Along with Passolano, Caton, and Finnell,
Chloe Saltijeral (/North Aurora, Ill.) and
Kate Baxter (New Bloomfield, MO/New Bloomfield) are all batting over .300 for the season.
In the pitcher's circle,
Bryn Wooldridge (Salisbury, Mo./Salisbury),
Charlye Rowland (Pearcy, Ark./Lake Hamilton), and
Kate Baxter (New Bloomfield, MO/New Bloomfield) have been the go-to's for the Miners this season with Wooldridge and Baxter both recording two wins while Rowland leads the team with 25 strikeouts in 13 appearances.
Quincy (8-18, 2-10 GLVC) is coming off back-to-back series losses to Southern Indiana and Indianapolis this past weekend.
Bailey Mitchell, Taylor Downen, and Ashley Gerber have led the Hawks thus far in the season; all are hitting over .300 for the season while Mitchell and Gerber lead the team with 21 hits each.
MacKenzie Collier has been the go-to for Quincy in the pitcher's circle with a 5-7 record and team low 3.53 ERA. Collier has recorded 85 strikeouts in 75.1 innings pitched while Bailee Highbarger has recorded 34 strikeouts in 51.0 innings pitched.
