ROLLA, MO- The Miners (2-6-1, 2-6-1 GLVC) look to get back in the winning column this weekend when they host the Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana and the Greyhounds of Indianapolis this Thursday and Saturday.
S&T is coming off a split with Missouri-St. Louis and McKendree from this past weekend where
Sydney Gratz (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) scored in both games. In the team's 2-1 win over UMSL, Gratz got the game-winning goal in the 56' of play. The Miners defense would hold steady and break the Tritons four game shutout streak.
In their game on Sunday against the Bearcats, Gratz would give the Miners an early 1-0 lead after a cross was sent into the box and landed right at feet of Gratz. While S&T held on to that lead or much of the first half, McKendree would get back-to-back goals at the end of the half to take the 2-1 lead and the eventual win.
For the season, Gratz and
Beth Roberts (Lake St. Louis, MO/Liberty) lead the team with two goals each while
Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) and
Kaitlyn Schwandtner (Tebbetts, Mo./Jefferson City) have recorded one goal each.
In goal,
Viktoria Johnson (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) and
Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) have split time in the net. Johnson leads the way with 28 saved while Steins has recorded 13.
Southern Indiana (7-2, 7-2 GLVC) is coming off back-to-back win this past weekend over Southwest Baptist and Drury where the Screaming Eagles outscored their opponents by a combined score of 9-0.
In the team's 4-0 win over Drury, USI scored all four of their goals in the second half and within 10 minutes of one another.
Morgan Beyer got things started for the Screaming Eagles with two goals scored just 54 seconds apart from one another to give them a 2-0 lead. Jill DiTusa and Taylor Hall added in goals at the 62' and 64' of play to further extend their lead.
For the season, Beyer leads the way for USI with four goals while DiTusa has added in three goals. Ten other players have recorded goals for the Screaming Eagles this season while Maya Etienne has been the go-to for Southern Indiana in goal with 34 saves recorded and only four goals allowed in 810 minutes played.
Indianapolis (7-1-1, 7-1-1 GLVC) is currently on a four-game winning streak that was extended when the Greyhounds took down 13
th ranked Rockhurst in double overtime and took a 1-0 win over SBU to finish the weekend.
UIndy's lone goal in their 1-0 win over SBU came in the 35' of play with an own goal by the Bearcats defense.
In the team's 2OT win over Rockhurst, Taylor Peck found the back of the net in the 108' to hand the Hawks their third loss of the season.
For the season, Elena Espinosa leads the team with two goals while seven other players have recorded one goal each. In goal, Sophia Saucerman has been the go-to for most games, recording 21 saves in just over 577 minutes of play.
