ROLLA, MO- The Miners took a big hit today, falling 10-0 and 12-2 to the Panthers of Drury University.
In game one, S&T picked up seven hits, but was unable to connect for a run.
Bryn Wooldridge (Salisbury, Mo./Salisbury) and
Hannah Antzoulatos (Planfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) led the way for the Miners with two hits each while
Elizabeth Viox (Glen Carbon, Ill./Edwardsville),
Holli Finnell (Nolensville, TN/Nolensville), and
Ashley Davis (Erie, IL/Erie) all recorded one hit each.
S&T picked up their first run of the day in game two when
Taylor Caton (Ballwin, Mo/Parkway West) singled to center field in the bottom half of the 1
st inning and brought
Maddy Passolano (Mokena, Ill./Lockport Township) across home plate to cut their deficit to 6-1.
After Drury picked up two more runs in the top of the 3
rd and one more in the top of the 5
th,
Chloe Saltijeral (/North Aurora, Ill.) recorded an RBI after she hit a grounder to second base that would allow
Keely Morgan (Laguna Hills, CA/Laguna Hills) to score to make it a 9-2 ballgame and send it into the 6
th inning.
But, the Miners would not get to see the 7
th after a double to center field brought in a run and a two-run homerun from the Panthers in the top of the 6
th inning and pushing their lead out to 12-2.
Maddy Passolano (Mokena, Ill./Lockport Township) and
Taylor Caton (Ballwin, Mo/Parkway West) led the Miners, offensively, in game two with two hits each while
Keely Morgan (Laguna Hills, CA/Laguna Hills),
Hannah Antzoulatos (Planfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy), and
Kate Baxter (New Bloomfield, MO/New Bloomfield) all recorded one hit each.
