ROLLA, MO- Looking to get back on the winning track, the Miners (4-18, 4-8 GLVC) welcomed the Hawks of Quincy University to town. But, the Hawks offense would explode in both games and S&T suffered the 9-1 and 6-1 losses.
While QU put up nine runs throughout the first game, S&T's lone run of the game came in the bottom of the 7
th inning when
Holli Finnell (Nolensville, TN/Nolensville) doubled to center field that brought
Marcy McCalla (Staunton, IL/Staunton) around the bases to cut their deficit to 9-1. Finnell would make her way to third base, but the Miners were not able to bring her home and faced the 9-1 loss.
Quincy got an early 2-0 lead in the second game of the series, but the Miners struck earlier this time.
Finnell would pick up her second RBI of the day in the bottom of the 3
rd inning when she singled through the 5-6 gap and brought
Maddy Passolano (Mokena, Ill./Lockport Township) home to make it a 2-1 ballgame.
Unfortunately, Quincy would pick up runs in the 5
th, 6
th, and 7
th innings extend their lead and take the eventual 6-1 win.
Along with Finnell,
Maddy Passolano (Mokena, Ill./Lockport Township) and
Bryn Wooldridge (Salisbury, Mo./Salisbury) had multi-hits games in the second game of the series.
