ROLLA, MO- The Miners will finish out their three-game homestand this weekend when they welcome the Saints of Maryville and the Lions of Lindenwood to town this Friday night and Sunday afternoon.
S&T is coming off a heartbreaking loss to Drury last week thar saw the Panthers score just five minutes apart in the second half. Their defense would hold the Miners to minimal shots for the remainder of the half and would hand S&T the 2-0 loss.
For the season,
Paige Jackson (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy),
Beth Roberts (Lake St. Louis, MO/Liberty), and
Kaitlyn Schwandtner (Tebbetts, Mo./Jefferson City) have all scored goals for the Miners while
Melanie Kulig (Belleville, Ill./Belleville Township) has recorded the only assist for the Miners this season. S&T has put three different players in goal in this season;
Viktoria Johnson (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) currently leads the team with 19 saves in 296 minutes played while
Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) has recorded six saves in 180 minutes played.
The Saints (3-1-2, 3-1-2 GLVC) are coming off a 1-1 2OT tie against the Panthers from Sunday afternoon.
Drury's Elsa Gonzalez netted the first goal of the game in the 55' mark from 20 yards out to give the Panthers the 1-0 lead. Maryville would tie the match with 12 minutes left in the second half with Erin Barens found Amanda Kaltwasser for the Saints goal.
While Maryville's defense held Drury to no recorded shots in both overtimes, the Panthers defense held steady and kept the Saints at bay to take the 1-1 draw.
For the season, seven different players have recorded goals for the Saints with Alex Johnson and Amanda Kaltwasser leading the way with three goals each. In goal, Katie Nash and Elyse Waterhouse have split time for the Saints; Nash, who have a 2-1-2 record, leads the way with 15 saves in 434 minutes of work while Waterhouse has recorded five saves in 145 minutes.
The Lions (5-0-1, 5-0-1 GLVC) are currently on a two-game win streak that was extended when they took down 13
th ranked Rockhurst and Southwest Baptist last weekend.
In Lindenwood's 2-0 win over the Bearcats, Bailey Bologna and Katie Juhlin recorded goals in the 9' and 84' of play while holding SBU to just two shots the entire match.
For the season, four different Lions players have scored with Maggie Weller leading the way with three goals in six games. In goal, Sam Blazek and Megan Swanson have split their time in goal this past season with Blazek recording 11 saves and Swanson with 12.
