Box Score HAMMOND, Ind. - The Missouri S&T volleyball team was back on the court at the Hammond Sportsplex Saturday afternoon for the third of their three matches for the weekend against Great Midwest Athletic Conference foe Walsh. The Miners (13-7) started the afternoon off strong, but couldn't pace the Cavaliers (12-8) as the match progressed, falling in their final match of the 2021 Midwest Regional Crossover 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 19-25, 16-25).
The Miners used a strong service game to set the tone early as they jumped out to an early lead and went on to take the first set of the day.
Walsh responded in set two and managed to keep with the Miners, not allowing them to pull away as the set went back and forth and ended with a Cavalier win.
After tying the match at 1-1, Walsh applied the pressure on S&T with their service game in sets three and four, using that to their advantage to take control in each set to pick up wins and close out the match with a 3-1 win.
Up next for the Miners, they return to Gibson Arena next Friday October 22 with a return to Great Lakes Valley Conference action against Maryville. First serve is scheduled for 7 P.M.
