EUREKA, Mo. – Greeted by much better conditions on the course Tuesday, the Missouri S&T golf team was back at Fox Run Golf Club for the final day of the Midwest Regional hosted by Missouri-St. Louis. The began with the completion of second round action before the field embarked on their third and final round of the event. The Miners (322-317-299=938) moved up the leaderboard over the final 18 holes of play to take home an 11th place finish.
Jeppe Thybo (Esbjerg, Denmark/Rybners Gymnasium) (75-80-73=228) was the low man for the Miners in the event. He finished his second round with an eight-over 80 with a pair of birdies before posting his best round of the event in the afternoon, carding a one-over 73 with four birdies and 10 pars as placed inside the top 20 at T17.
Colin Stolze (St. Louis, MO/Chaminade College Preparatory) (79-79-79=237) was the model of consistency this weekend, carding a 79 in all three rounds. After 11 holes at par in round two, he registered three birdies in the final round and seven pars to finish T51.
Carl Miltun (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field) (84-79-76=239) posted his best round of the event to close out the day Tuesday. Following a +7 79 with a birdie and nine pars in round two, he collected three birdies, including one on the 515-yards par five 16th along with nine more holes at par to post a four-over 76 and place T57.
Gustav Liljedahl (Uppsala, Sweden/Celsiusskolan) (89-79-73=241) played his best golf of the vent Tuesday, finishing round two with a +7 79 with a birdie on the 613-yard par five ninth before opening his final round with a dozen straight holes of par golf. He finished his final round with 15 pars and a birdie on the 566-yard par five sixth to post a one-over 73 to finish T64.
Blake Heimburger (Wentzville, MO/Holt) (84-86-77=247) turned in his best round of the weekend in the afternoon session Tuesday. After making six pars over the course of round two, he collected a pair of birdies and 11 pars to wrap up the day and finish T78.
McKendree (305-302-286=893) took home the top spot while Southern Indiana (306-301-292=899) finished second, while UMSL (306-305-296=907) and UIndy (305-300-302=907_ tied for third, with Tiffin (308-304-298=910) and Trevecca Nazarene (303-302-305=910) tying for fifth to round out the top 10.
The Miners close out the fall portion of their schedule next week on October 18-19, as they'll head to Enid, Oklahoma for the Ranger Invite at Meadowlake Golf Course, hosted by Northwestern Oklahoma State.
