ROLLA, Mo. – With action on the field having been canceled as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Great Lakes Valley Conference is honoring student-athletes in spring sports from around the conference as its "Student-Athlete of the Week" in those sports.
The first of the student-athletes to be honored is
Braden Mahurin (Dixon, MO/Dixon), a catcher on the Missouri S&T baseball team. Mahurin is a sophomore who is majoring in engineering management and shares his story about why he chose that major and his future plans.
During the 2020 season, Braden batted .269 with four runs batted in as he had started in eight of S&T's 15 games behind the plate.
He was a member of the GLVC's All-Academic team and the GLVC's Distinguished Scholars list following the 2018-19 academic year. Braden also serves as one of the baseball team's representatives on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
