ROLLA, MO- S&T's volleyball team continued their successful start to the season with the 3-1 win in their GLVC opener over the Knights of Bellarmine University.

After dropping the first set 26-24 and being held to a .045 hitting percentage, the Miners came out swinging, literally, as they laid down 14 kills with just one error.

S&T got up by as much as eight in the second set after a triple block from Sarah McGinnis (Middleton, Wis./Edgewood), Kiernan O'Boyle (Kansas City, Mo./St. Teresa's Academy), and Emilee Schlader (Lewiston, Idaho/Lewiston) up the Miners up 23-15. McGinnis would get the set point and tie the match at 1-1 when she put down a kill to give S&T the 25-18 win.

Bellarmine took control in the opening of the third set, gaining an 8-2 lead after a kill from Hannah Brown.

The Miners would shut down the Knights by finishing the set with a 23-7 run that was topped off with kills from Payton Gannaway (Lawrence, Kan./Lawrence Free State) and Abigail Widiker (Hammond, Wis./Saint Croix Central) to give S&T the 25-15 win.

S&T would come from behind again in the fourth set to take the 25-21 win and the 3-1 match.

Bellarmine's Izzie Salameh and Julia Dailey recorded back-to-back kills to put the Knights up 21-19. The Miners would rally for six straight points behind four kills from Emilee Schlader (Lewiston, Idaho/Lewiston) and BU errors to come up with the 25-21 win.

Schlader led the way, offensively, for the Miners with 12 kills and 13 digs for her 10th double-double of the season. Kiernan O'Boyle (Kansas City, Mo./St. Teresa's Academy) also recorded double-figures in kills with 10 while picking up two solo blocks and six block assists.

Corinne Stucle led the team with 21 digs tonight while Sarah McGinnis (Middleton, Wis./Edgewood) dished out 41 assists while picking up 10 digs and laying down three kills.
