ROLLA, Mo. – Bo Brooks, who earned All-America honors on the field as well as Academic All-America honors for his work in the classroom and Skyler Ruszkowski, an All-America performer in track & field, were named Sunday as the recipients of the Gale Bullman Awards at the M -Club Awards Banquet at Havener Center.

Brooks was named to three All-America teams following a standout senior year for the Miner football team, which tied its program record for wins in a season and won the Mineral Water Bowl in the Miners' first post-season appearance in 68 years.  During the year, Brooks finished with 87 tackles with an S&T single-season record 22 of them for a loss and 11 quarterback sacks, ranking seventh in NCAA Division II in tackles for a loss and was 20th in quarterback sacks as he became the second player in school history with at least 20 stops behind the line of scrimmage and 10 sacks in the same season.

In addition to his on-field honors, Brooks was selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-America team for the second time following the 2018 season.

Ruszkowski finished seventh in the high jump at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, her highest finish in her four trips to the national meet during her S&T career.  She also captured the Great Lakes Valle Conference championship in the pentathlon during the indoor season and placed second in the outdoor high jump last weekend, landing an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the process.

The Bullman Award, named for the university's former director of athletics and long-time football coach, is the most prestigious award given to a Missouri S&T student-athlete.  It is traditionally given to a senior student-athlete who has displayed outstanding character and excelled both on the playing field and in the classroom.

Head swimming coach Doug Grooms, who led S&T's swimming team to a sixth place finish at the NCAA Division II Championships and a second place finish in the GLVC and track & field coach Shaun Meinecke, who guided the women's cross country and indoor track & field teams to a fourth place finishes in the GLVC, were named as the coaches of the year.
