HENDERSONVILLE, TN- The Miner softball team (2-4) took a hard loss in the opening day of the Music City Invitational, dropping their first game of the weekend to Tiffin University 3-2.
The Miners struggled to get anything going in the beginning of the game; they picked up a hit each from 
Olivia Walter (Catawissa, MO/Cor Jesu Academy) and 
Lauren King (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt North) in the 2nd and 3rd innings, respectively, and a single from 
Courtney Jackson (Parkville, MO/Park Hill South) in the 5th, they would be able to play off their baserunners.
The Dragons got on the board first in the bottom of the 3
rd inning with back-to-back RBI hits from Gabrielle Hess and Chloe Swaisgood to give Tiffin an early 2-0 lead.
S&T finally connected for runs in the top of the 6th to tie the game at 2-2.
With 
Olivia Young (Millstadt, IL/Belleville Township) and 
Marcy McCalla (Staunton, IL/Staunton) on at the corners, 
Anna Burke (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) reached base on a TU error that would allow 
Olivia Young (Millstadt, IL/Belleville Township) to score. Three batters later, 
Lauren King (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt North) sit a sacrifice fly to right field that would send 
Marcy McCalla (Staunton, IL/Staunton) across home plate.
After loading the bases in the bottom of the 7
th inning, Tiffin's Kaylee Savage drew a walk from 
Kate Baxter (New Bloomfield, MO/New Bloomfield) to end the game at 3-2.
Olivia Walter (Catawissa, MO/Cor Jesu Academy) got the start today going 4.0 innings with four strikeouts. 
Kate Baxter (New Bloomfield, MO/New Bloomfield) (1-3) gets credited for the loss after going 2.1 innings with one hit.
Courtney Jackson (Parkville, MO/Park Hill South), 
Olivia Young (Millstadt, IL/Belleville Township), 
Olivia Walter (Catawissa, MO/Cor Jesu Academy), and
