10/15/2019 11:35:00 AM

ROLLA, MO- The Miner women's soccer team will wrap up their home schedule for the season this weekend when they host Truman State on Friday and Quincy on Sunday afternoon.

S&T is coming off a noteworthy win against Missouri-St. Louis. After holding each other scoreless for 90 minutes, the Tritons and Miners went to overtime. With just 30 seconds left in the first overtime, Julia Crets (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) unleashed a shot from the top corner of the box and sent it to the back of the net to give S&T the 1-0 win.

For the year, Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) leads the team with four goals and nine points while Crets and Peyton Carter (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West) both have two goals each. Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) has been the go-to for the Miners this season, collecting three wins and two shut-outs while recording 47 saves in 823:19 minutes of work.

About Truman State:
The Bulldogs, who are 5-5-1 overall and 5-4 in GLVC play, are on a three game winning streak that was extended last weekend when they defeated Drury and shut-out Southwest Baptist.

After taking a 1-0 lead into the break, TSU unleashed their offense over the Bearcats and scored three goals in 21 minutes. Along with their offense, the Bulldogs defense held SBU to just five shots the entire game with only one being on-goal.

For the season, three Bulldog players have multiple goals; Paige Peterson and Anna Meyer both have three goals recorded while Chance Douglass comes into the weekend with two goals and one assist. Five other TSU players have one goal scored.
Beth Hopwood has played all 1035:34 minutes for the Bulldogs this season, making 66 saves and recording four shut-outs in the process.

Last season when the two teams met, Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) got the lone goal of the game on a shot from 30 yards out that secured the Miners 1-0 win.

About Quincy:
Quincy (5-6; 4-5 GLVC) comes into the weekend on a two game win streak after taking down Drury and Southwest Baptist last weekend.

When Drury tied the game at 1-1 in the 24' minute of play, QU's Paige Anderson fired a shot at the back of the net to give Quincy the 2-1 lead, and the eventual win.

Only five players for the Hawks have scored this season; Maddie Bauer leads the pack with four goals while Lauren Crane, Paige Anderson, and Grace Hillbing all have two goals scored. Mary Maloney is the final QU player with a goal recorded this season.

Emilee Autry has played every match in goal for the Hawks this season, recording 55 saves in 990 minutes of work.

Historically, the Miners have struggled against the Hawks, with the last S&T win coming in 2000.

Last season when the two teams met, QU's Cassidy Foley completed a penalty kick in the 28' to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. That goal would prove to be enough to secure Quincy's win.

Prior to Sunday's match, Quincy will face-off against Maryville University on Friday night.
