Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T women's soccer team will open its 2018 season this Sunday, Sept. 2, hosting the Christian Brothers Lady Buccaneers at the S&T Soccer Field in Rolla. A 12 p.m. (CT) start is scheduled for the Miners' season-opening match.
2018 Record: S&T is currently 0-0 overall and 0-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) to date. The Miners are 0-0 at home, 0-0 on the road, and 0-0 at home.
S&T Head Coach –
Joe McCauley (Louisville, 1992), Ninth season, 38-81-12 (.336). McCauley, who's currently in his ninth season at Missouri S&T this fall after arriving prior to the 2010 season, led the Miners to a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Tournament appearances and a GLVC Tourney Championship match outing in 2014. He guided the 2014 S&T squad to its first conference title match following a tourney opening-round win at Bellarmine and a victory in. penalty kick shootout over defending champion Quincy. Prior to S&T, McCauley served six seasons (2004-09) as the head coach at NCAA Division II Eckerd College after spending five seasons (1998-02) as the goalkeeper coach at NCAA Division I Northern Illinois where he assisted in guiding the Huskies to a 1998 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship title. McCauley coached at fellow Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) foe Bellarmine (Ky.) from 1991-97, which included taking over as the Knights' head coach in 1992. McCauley began his coaching career in 1990 at NCAA-I Louisville instructing the Cardinal goalkeepers.

Season Openers: S&T is 11-23-2 (.333) in season-opening matches dating back to 1982. The Miners dropped a 2-1 decision at Christian Brothers in last season's (9/3) opener. S&T's most recent season-opening victory occurred in 2012 (8/31) when the Miners tallied a 1-0 decision over Wayne (Neb.) State.
Home Openers: The Miners have compiled a 15-20-1 (.431) record in their home openers since 1982, which includes a 3-2 home-opening setback to Indianapolis last season (9/8). The last home-opening triumph for S&T was in 2012 (9/14) when the Miners posted a 2-0 win versus Saint Joseph's (Ind.).

2018 GLVC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll: S&T was tabbed 14th in the
2018 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Coaches Preseason Poll as the Miners earned 14 points. McKendree was picked to win the conference with 159 points and six first-place votes while Quincy garnered five first-place votes and garnered 151 points. Bellarmine, which placed third, received the remaining three first-place votes and totaled 149 points. Maryville (130 pts.) and Truman State (117 pts.) rounded out the top five, respectively. Claiming the sixth-place spot was Rockhurst, which received 106 points, followed by Southern Indiana (103 pts.), Indianapolis (81 pts.), Illinois Springfield (68 pts.), and Lewis (56 pts.). Missouri-St. Louis (52 pts.), Drury (50 pts.), and William Jewell (38 pts.) occupied places 11th through 13th. The 14 league coaches weren't allowed to vote for their own teams.
2018 S&T Roster: Missouri S&T's 2018 active roster consists of seven seniors, 11 juniors, seven sophomores, and four freshmen. Twelve of the 29 student-athletes play at the defender position while nine others are midfielders, five goalkeepers, and three forwards. Ten individuals hail from the state of Illinois while eight are from Missouri.
