Miners host Lynx Tuesday seeking to halt skid

ROLLA, Mo. -- Missouri S&T's men's basketball team will seek to get back into the win column Tuesday night as it hosts Lincoln College for the first time in a 7 p.m. contest at Gibson Arena.

The Miners enter the game looking to stop a losing streak at five games, which reached that point following Saturday's 90-81 loss at Drury.  S&T shot 49.1 percent from the field in that game, but Drury connected on 56.7 percent of its attempts to pull away in the second half.

CJ Hedgepeth (Evansville, IN/Harrison), who leads the Miners in scoring for the season, led five Miners in double figures with 21 points and recorded his first double-double in an S&T uniform as he also added 10 rebounds.  For the season, Hedgepeth is averaging 14 points per game and has scored at least 10 points in each of the Miners' last six contests.

Jordan Newt (San Francisco, CA/Malibu), who had 17 points at Drury Saturday, is scoring 13.9 points a game and leads S&T with 23 three-point baskets, while Dulan Scott (Chicago, IL/Farragut Academy) and Romain Louiserre (La Ferte Alais, France/Fredrick Fays) are also averaging in double figures in the scoring column, as Scott is scoring 11 per game and Louiserre checks in at 10.6 a game.

In addition, Juwan Miller (Kitchener, Ont./Huron Heights) is leading the Miners in two categories as he is the top rebounder with 6.1 a game and has a team-high 14 steals, while also sharing the team lead in assists with Hedgepeth with 24 on the season.

Tuesday's game is the last for the Miners prior to finals, as S&T's next game will be on Dec. 17 against Northeastern State.

ABOUT LINCOLN COLLEGE: The Lynx, an NAIA program in its their first season at the four-year college level, come into play this week at 6-6 prior to a Monday night game at Missouri Valley.  On Saturday, Lincoln College dropped a 93-92 overtime decision at home to Indiana University Northwest, a game that saw Lejavius Johnson score 29 points and Trayvon Tyler add 20.

Tyler leads the Lynx in scoring with an average of 17.8 points per game and in assists with 63; he has made 25 three-point baskets on the season which is second on the team to Darnell Latham's 29.  Latham, a 39 percent three-point shooter, is scoring 14.5 points per contest, while Julian Powell is also in double figures in the scoring column with 11 points a game.

Powell, who came to Lincoln College from Division I Saint Peter's, has been a strong presence inside for the Lynx as he is shooting 62.5 percent from the field, has a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game and has 11 blocked shots.  The Lynx are averaging 8.3 three-point baskets per game.
