Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T women's soccer team will make its final 2018 regular season home appearances this weekend (Oct. 12 and 14) as the Miners host a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) opponents at the S&T Soccer Field. The Miners commence the weekend's action this Friday (Oct. 12) taking on the McKendree Bearcats in a 5 p.m. (CT) contest and then wrap up the home portion of their regular season slate pn Sunday (Oct. 14) as the Illinois Springfield (UIS) Prairie Stars visit S&T for a 12 p.m. (CT) matchup.
2018 Record: Missouri S&T improved to 3-7-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the GLVC following a 1-0 conference road victory over Truman State this last Sunday (Oct. 7) at TSU's Bulldog Soccer Park in Kirksville, Mo., which snapped a three-match losing string. The Miners, who suffered a 3-0 league home setback to Missouri-St. Louis this past Friday (Oct. 5) at the S&T Soccer Field in Rolla, sports a 0-5-1 record at home while registering a 2-2-0 on the road and a 1-0-0 ledger in neutral site matches this campaign.
S&T Head Coach –
Joe McCauley (Louisville, 1992), Ninth season, 41-88-13 (.335). McCauley, who's currently in his ninth season at Missouri S&T this fall after arriving prior to the 2010 season, led the Miners to a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Tournament appearances and a GLVC Tourney Championship match outing in 2014. He guided the 2014 S&T squad to its first conference title match following a tourney opening-round win at Bellarmine and a victory in. penalty kick shootout over defending champion Quincy. Prior to S&T, McCauley served six seasons (2004-09) as the head coach at NCAA Division II Eckerd College after spending five seasons (1998-02) as the goalkeeper coach at NCAA Division I Northern Illinois where he assisted in guiding the Huskies to a 1998 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship title. McCauley coached at fellow Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) foe Bellarmine (Ky.) from 1991-97, which included taking over as the Knights' head coach in 1992. McCauley began his coaching career in 1990 at NCAA-I Louisville instructing the Cardinal goalkeepers.

McKendree: The Bearcats are 10-1-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the GLVC this season to date after winning their fifth straight match with a 1-0 league road victory over Quincy (Ill.) this last Sunday (Oct. 7) at QU's Legends Stadium. McKendree, which is coached by 20th-year head coach Tim Strange, tallied a 1-0 conference road win against Illinois Springfield last Friday (Oct.5) at UIS' Kiwanis Stadium in Springfield, Ill. The Bearcats, who were 15-3-3 overall with a 9-2-3 GLVC record a season ago, are 6-0-1 on the road and 4-1-0 at home this campaign.

Illinois Springfield: The Prairie Stars, who are presently 1-9-2 overall and 1-7-0 in the GLVC this season, are midst a seven-matching losing streak after suffering a 1-0 home league loss to William Jewell this past Sunday (Oct. 7) at UIS' Kiwanis Stadium in Springfield, Ill. UIS, which fell 1-0 at home to McKendree last Friday (Oct. 5) in conference action, is 1-2-2 at home, 0-6-0 on the road, and 0-1-0 at neutral sites this fall. The Prairie Stars, who are directed by third-year head coach Erin Egolf, visit Drury this Friday (Oct. 12) in a GLVC encounter at DU's Curry Sports Complex-Harrison Stadium in Springfield, Mo., before facing Missouri S&T this Sunday (Oct. 14) in Rolla, Mo. Last season, UIS posted a 9-6-4 overall mark and went 6-5-3 in the GLVC.

Miner Notes: Kayla Foster's (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) match-winning goal in S&T's 1-0 conference victory at Truman State last Friday (Oct. 5) was the third of her career. The junior forward netted two game-winning scores in 13 appearances as a freshman in the 2016 season. Foster has accumulated 20 career points (10-0=20) in 38 appearances, which includes two points (1-0=2) in 11 outings this fall ... Sophomore goalkeeper
Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) notched her second shutout of this season with a complete-match five saves in the Miners' 1-0 win at Truman State. Steins' initial shutout this campaign occurred in S&T's 1-0 league decision at Drury (9/23) with four stops in 90 minutes of action ... The Miners' two road victories (2-2-0) this fall to date represents the program's most since 2014 when S&T went 3-7-0 in away encounters ... The Miners have outperformed their opponent in corner kicks this season with a 43-32 lead, which includes a 30-16 first-half advantage.
Home Finales: The Miners have registered a 21-13-2 record (.611) in their final regular-season home matches dating back to the 1982 season. S&T has compiled a 2-6-2 mark in its last 10 home finale outings, which includes a 1-4-1 ledger in its last five such appearances. The Miners earned a 1-0 win over Wisconsin-Parkside in last season's (10/25) final home contest to snap a three-match losing skid.

2018 GLVC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll: S&T was tabbed 14th in the
2018 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Coaches Preseason Poll as the Miners earned 14 points. McKendree was picked to win the conference with 159 points and six first-place votes while Quincy garnered five first-place votes and garnered 151 points. Bellarmine, which placed third, received the remaining three first-place votes and totaled 149 points. Maryville (130 pts.) and Truman State (117 pts.) rounded out the top five, respectively. Claiming the sixth-place spot was Rockhurst, which received 106 points, followed by Southern Indiana (103 pts.), Indianapolis (81 pts.), Illinois Springfield (68 pts.), and Lewis (56 pts.). Missouri-St. Louis (52 pts.), Drury (50 pts.), and William Jewell (38 pts.) occupied places 11th through 13th. The 14 league coaches weren't allowed to vote for their own teams.
2018 S&T Roster: Missouri S&T's 2018 active roster consists of seven seniors, 11 juniors, seven sophomores, and four freshmen. Twelve of the 29 student-athletes play at the defender position while nine others are midfielders, five goalkeepers, and three forwards. Ten individuals hail from the state of Illinois while eight are from Missouri. Serving as S&T's captains for the 2018 season are junior midfielder

S&T has recorded six 10 or more victories in a season – 10-5 (1983), 12-7 (1986), 12-6-2 (1994), 15-3-1 (1997), 10-7 (1998), and 10-7-1 (1999).

Up Next: The Miners will embark on a three-match conference road swing over the next two weeks to conclude their 2018 regular season schedule, starting next Friday, Oct. 19, against the Lewis Flyers in Romeoville, Ill. A 7:30 p.m. (CT) start time is set for the GLVC match at LU's Lewis Stadium.
