Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T women's soccer team will close out its 2018 season this Wednesday (Oct. 24) afternoon as the Miners travel to St. Louis, Mo., to face the Maryville Saints. A 2:30 p.m. (CT) start time is scheduled for the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) match on the turf at Maryville Field.
2018 Record: Missouri S&T has compiled a 4-10-1 overall record and is 3-8-1 in the GLVC this season following a 2-1 conference road setback to Indianapolis this past Sunday (Oct. 21) at UIndy's Key Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. The Miners, who have registered a 2-4-0 road mark to go with a 1-6-1 home ledger and are 1-0-0 in neutral site encounters this fall, were dealt a 1-0 league loss by Lewis last Friday (Oct. 19) night at Lewis Stadium in Romeoville, Ill. S&T has posted a 2-3-0 mark in its last five matches to date.
S&T Head Coach –
Joe McCauley (Louisville, 1992), Ninth season, 42-91-13 (.332). McCauley, who's currently in his ninth season at Missouri S&T this fall after arriving prior to the 2010 season, led the Miners to a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Tournament appearances and a GLVC Tourney Championship match outing in 2014. He guided the 2014 S&T squad to its first conference title match following a tourney opening-round win at Bellarmine and a victory in. penalty kick shootout over defending champion Quincy. Prior to S&T, McCauley served six seasons (2004-09) as the head coach at NCAA Division II Eckerd College after spending five seasons (1998-02) as the goalkeeper coach at NCAA Division I Northern Illinois where he assisted in guiding the Huskies to a 1998 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship title. McCauley coached at fellow Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) foe Bellarmine (Ky.) from 1991-97, which included taking over as the Knights' head coach in 1992. McCauley began his coaching career in 1990 at NCAA-I Louisville instructing the Cardinal goalkeepers.

Maryville: The Saints are currently 8-4-3 overall and 7-4-1 in the GLVC this season after winning for the fourth time in their last six outings with a 1-0 overtime conference road victory over Lewis this Sunday (Oct. 21) at Lewis Stadium in Romeoville, Ill. Maryville, which is directed by first-year head coach Lori Chalupny, dropped a 5-2 league road decision to Quincy this past Friday (Oct. 19) evening at QU's Legends Stadium in Quincy, Ill. The Saints are currently 4-0-3 at home and 4-4-0 on the road this season. Maryville compiled a 9-6-3 overall record last season, which included 7-4-3 in conference play.

Season Finales: The Miners have registered a 16-14-6 record (.528) in season-finale matches dating back to the 1982 campaign. S&T is 1-0-1 in its last two season-ending appearances with a 1-1 two-overtime tie at Drury in 2016 (10/26) and a 1-0 home triumph over Wisconsin-Parkside a season ago (10/25). The Miners are 2-1-0 all-time against Maryville in season-finale outings with the most recent occuring in 1989 (11/4) in which S&T tallied a 1-0 home victory.

Carli Tastad's two goals this season represents a career single-season best, surpassing her one goal apiece in the 2016 and 2017 campaigns. Her four points (2-0=2) in 14 matches to date this season also marks a career season high ... The Miners are averaging 6.2 shots per match (93 total shots) in the second half this fall compared to 4.8 shots (72 total shots) in the opening 45 minutes of action ... Junior defender
Chayse Richardson (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville), who has nine career points (2-5=9) in 45 outings, picked up her fifth career assist in S&T's 2-1 setback to Indianapolis (Oct. 21) ... Senior midfielder
Mikaela Mockenhaupt's squad-best 12 shots on goal in 15 matches also marks a career season high, eclipsing her eight shots on goal in 15 2016 season contests.

2018 GLVC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll: S&T was tabbed 14th in the
2018 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Coaches Preseason Poll as the Miners earned 14 points. McKendree was picked to win the conference with 159 points and six first-place votes while Quincy garnered five first-place votes and garnered 151 points. Bellarmine, which placed third, received the remaining three first-place votes and totaled 149 points. Maryville (130 pts.) and Truman State (117 pts.) rounded out the top five, respectively. Claiming the sixth-place spot was Rockhurst, which received 106 points, followed by Southern Indiana (103 pts.), Indianapolis (81 pts.), Illinois Springfield (68 pts.), and Lewis (56 pts.). Missouri-St. Louis (52 pts.), Drury (50 pts.), and William Jewell (38 pts.) occupied places 11th through 13th. The 14 league coaches weren't allowed to vote for their own teams.
2018 S&T Roster: Missouri S&T's 2018 active roster consists of seven seniors, 11 juniors, seven sophomores, and four freshmen. Twelve of the 29 student-athletes play at the defender position while nine others are midfielders, five goalkeepers, and three forwards. Ten individuals hail from the state of Illinois while eight are from Missouri. Serving as S&T's captains for the 2018 season are senior midfielder

All-Time Record: The 2018 campaign represents S&T's 37th season of intercollegiate women's soccer competition since the program's inception in 1982. The Miners have presently amassed a 223-364-47 record (.389) to date. S&T has recorded six 10 or more victories in a season – 10-5 (1983), 12-7 (1986), 12-6-2 (1994), 15-3-1 (1997), 10-7 (1998), and 10-7-1 (1999).
