ROLLA, Mo. – A Celebration of Life service has been scheduled in the memory of Joe Keeton, a former coach in the Missouri S&T athletics department and member of the Miner Athletic Hall of Fame who passed away on Friday, Oct. 5 at the age of 77.
The service will take place on Sunday, Oct. 28, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Gladstone Community Center in Gladstone, Mo.; dress for the event is casual. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorial donations to go to the Miner Football Endowed Scholarship account.

Keeton spent 22 years on the coaching staff at Missouri S&T, serving as the head coach of the university's wrestling and track & field programs for 17 and two seasons, respectively, while also serving as the offensive line coach for the Miners over the 22-year span.
He was a much respected member of the coaching staff who made an impact on the lives of many student-athletes who were part of the Miner program. He was named as the Missouri Intercollegiate Athletics Association "Coach of the Year" in wrestling and while serving on the football staff, helped lead the Miners to three MIAA football championships.
The Miners won MIAA titles in 1977, 1980 with one of two teams in program history to finish undefeated and in 1983.
Keeton was inducted into the Miner Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015 as an individual and is also a member of the Hall of Fame with the three aforementioned championship football teams.
