Miners begin run of three games in five days Thursday night

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T will seek to break into the win column for the first time in Great Lakes Valley Conference play Thursday when it opens a stretch of three games in five days with a rematch against Truman State at Billy Key Court.

The Miners will face the Bulldogs in a 7:30 p.m. contest to open the busy holiday weekend, as they will head to Springfield, Mo., Saturday to take on Drury in a 3 p.m. game and return home for a Monday evening contest against William Jewell that will begin at 7:30 p.m. to close out the stretch of games against teams from the GLVC West Division.

Missouri S&T enters play this week at 2-10 overall and will be looking to snap a four-game losing streak against a Truman team that handed the Miners a 101-66 loss last week in Kirksville.  The Miners led for most of the first half and were down by just two at the half, but the Bulldogs poured in 13 three-point shots in the final 20 minutes to break free from S&T.

The Miners are led in scoring by Chris Harris (Antioch, IL/Lake Forest Academy) with an average of 14.8 points per game, which ranks 13th in the GLVC and is one of six Miners averaging in double figures heading into Thursday's contest.  Romain Louiserre (La Ferte Alais, France/Fredrick Fays), who led S&T with 18 points in Saturday's 82-74 loss to Wisconsin-Parkside, is averaging 12.8 points per game and Sebastian Ferenc (Zgierz, Poland/) is at 11.7 points and a team-high 8.4 rebounds per game, while also ranking second in the league with 1.5 blocked shots per game.

ABOUT TRUMAN STATE: After splitting their 10 games prior to the NCAA Division II winter break, the Bulldogs have won three straight since returning to action to bring an 8-5 overall record and 3-1 GLVC mark into Thursday's game.  That three-game winning streak also includes last Thursday's win over Missouri S&T in Kirksville.

Zach Fischer recorded his league-high ninth double-double Saturday in the Bulldogs' 92-80 win over Lewis and leads Truman with averages of 17.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.  Fischer leads the conference in rebounding and is second in the GLVC in field goal percentage at 69.8 percent.
