Rolla, Mo. – Missouri S&T's women's soccer team heads to Kansas City this weekend for a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference matches against William Jewell and Rockhurst. The Lady Miners and Cardinals will square off on Friday at 5 p.m. in Liberty. On Sunday S&T takes on the Hawks beginning at 12 p.m.
The Lady Miners dropped a pair of one goal decisions last weekend falling to 15
th ranked Quincy 3-2 and then lost to Truman State 2-1 on Sunday. S&T has had six of its eight matches decided by one goal this season.
Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) continues to lead the Lady Miners in scoring with three goals while
Taylor Vollmer (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) has scored two goals and assisted on another.
Carli Tastad (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) has added a goal as well.
Liz Carrano (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) and
Rylee Hanes (Ladera Ranch, Calif./San Juan Hills) have seen a majority of the minutes in goal with Hanes posting a goals against average of 2.00 while Carrano has a GAA of 2.29.
William Jewell enters Friday's match with a record of 5-3 overall, 3-2 in the GLVC. The Cardinals snapped their three game losing streak on Sunday posting a 1-0 win at Drury. Aspen Hawkins scored the game-winner in the 65
th minute off a pass from Alyson Galler.
Hawkins leads the team in scoring with two goals while Annalee Arbeitman, Gracie Schweinfurth, Mackenzie Giegling and Lexy Hawkins have scored a goal apiece. Jordan Lewis has played every minute in goal allowing just four goals, has a goals against average of 0.50 and has posted five shutouts.
Rockhurst is also 5-3 and 3-2 in league play heading into Friday's match against Drury. The Hawks have lost three of their last four games with the lone win coming against William Jewell last Friday. This past Sunday, Rockhurst traveled up to Omaha for a contest against Omaha Mavericks and fell 3-1.
Kaley Nieters leads the team in scoring with two goals and three assists while Jillian Leetch has two goals and two assists. Cate Sommerhoff has tallied a pair of goals on the season. Rosie Breheny has played a majority of minutes in goal posting a 0.85 goals against average, has made 36 saves and posted three shutouts.
