Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Miners return home for the start of a three match homestand beginning on Friday evening when it hosts McKendree at 7 p.m., at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building. The homestand continues on Saturday with a visit from Maryville at 3 p.m. and then concludes next Wednesday against Truman State at 7 p.m.
The Miners (4-7, 0-2 GLVC) look to break a three-match losing streak on Friday when they host the Bearcats (6-3, 1-0 GLVC). S&T opened conference play last Thursday dropping a five set match against Drury and then lost in straight sets at Southern Indiana last Saturday.
Emilee Schlader (Lewiston, Idaho/Lewiston) had 23 kills in the two matches last weekend and continues to lead the team averaging 3.3 kills per set.
Claire Friedlund (Parkville, Mo./Park Hill South) is averaging 2.85 kills/set while
Carlie Combs (O'Fallon, Mo./St. Dominic) and
Kyley Thompson (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) are averaging 2.32 and 2.24 kills per set respectively.
Sarah McGinnis (Middleton, Wis./Edgewood) is handing out 6.63 assists per set and
Corinne Stulce (St. Charles, Mo./Duchesne) leads the way on the defensive side of the ball with nearly 4.7 digs per set.
McKendree has rebounded from a slow start winning their last five matches. The Bearcats opened conference play last Thursday defeating Indianapolis in four sets at home. Arela Williams had a career-high 33 kills in the win over the Greyounds and also had 16 digs to along with a service ace.
Williams leads the team and conference in kills with 4.50 per set while Amanda Geiger is contributing 3.25 kills per set to the attack. Morgan Melchert is distributing nearly 10 assists per set while Kelly Voss leads the way on the defensive side of the ball with 4.5 digs per set.
Maryville enters Friday's match at Drury at 1-9 on the season and is 1-1 in league action. The Saints snapped their eight match losing streak to begin the season rallying past Southern Indiana to win in five sets at Moloney Arena. This past Saturday Maryville fell in straight sets against Missouri-St. Louis.
Allison Lakin leads the team on the offensive side of the ball averaging 3.03 kills per set while Ashley Selman is contributing 1.94 kills/set to the attack. Kayla Buxton is the primary setter for the Saints dishing out 4.22 assists per set. Maggie Murphy is the leader on the defensive side of the ball with 3.76 digs per set.
