Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners continues its road swing with a trip to Oklahoma this weekend to take on Northeastern State and Rogers State in a pair of doubleheaders. The Lady Miners (5-8) will square off against the Riverhawks (6-5) on Friday afternoon beginning at 12 p.m. in Tahlequah and then will face the Hillcats (12-3) at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in Claremore.
S&T went 1-3 this past weekend at the Lewis Dome Invite dropping contests to fourth ranked Grand Valley State and Wayne State last Friday. The Lady Miners rebounded for a split on Saturday defeating Walsh 10-0 in five innings before losing to Winona State 4-3.
Kelly Heckemeyer (St. Elizabeth, Mo./St. Elizabeth) and
Abby Klein (Kansas City, MO/Staley) paced the S&T attack last weekend combining to go 14-for-26 with eight runs batted in and seven runs scored. Heckemeyer finished the weekend hitting .583 and raised her batting average to .429 while Klein hit .500 in the four games lifting her season average to .419.
Hannah Franceschini (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) also had a good weekend at the dish going 5-for-12 with a double and three RBIs.
Northeastern State enters Friday's contest having won five of its last seven contests after starting the season 1-3. The Riverhawks went 3-2 two weekends ago at the Arkansas-Monticello 8-State Classic losing to Missouri-St. Louis 5-2 and East Central 9-3 and defeating William Jewell 3-2, Concordia-St. Paul 12-2 in five innings and Drury 5-3.
NSU is hitting .254 as a team and is led by Paige Gann with a .441 average and has a team-high 12 runs batted in. She is also tied for the team lead in home runs with three along with Haley Acrey.
In the circle the Riverhawks are led by Sylver Collins with a 5-1 mark and an earned run average of 1.30. In 27 innings pitched she's given up five earned runs, has struck out 20 and holding opponents to a .238 batting average.
Rogers State is hosting Southwest Baptist in a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon before welcoming the Lady Miners. The Hillcats have been hot of late winning four in a row and 12 of their last 13 overall. They swept Oklahoma Wesleyan in a doubleheader last Friday and then defeated Lincoln by identical 9-1 scores.
RSU is led on offense by Harli Wheeler who is hitting .419 with 10 runs run scored and five RBIs. De'Leigh Emarthle leads the team with seven home runs and has driven in 20 runs while Kayla Patterson has hit five home runs and 16 runs batted in.
Megan Rosewell has dominated in the circle this season going 11-2 with a 1.91 ERA in 69.2 innings pitched. She's tossed eight complete games and two shutouts. She has struck out 30 but has issued 28 walks and given up five home runs.
