Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T softball nine heads to St. Louis for a four-game set at Maryville University on Saturday and Sunday. S&T (2-3) will take on Maryville (1-3) on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. and then will square off against Lincoln (0-4) at 3 p.m. that afternoon. On Sunday, the Lady Miners will take on Maryville again at 10 a.m. and then will face Columbia College at 12 p.m. All four games will be played at the Maryville Baseball Field.
S&T picked up its first two wins of the season last Saturday defeating Newman 6-1 and Colorado School of Mines 5-3. They ended up dropping their finale in Texas to Southwestern Oklahoma State 13-11. The Lady Miners overcame an early deficit and held an 11-5 lead after four innings but were unable to hold on.
S&T has six players hitting above .300 and are led by
Kelly Heckemeyer (St. Elizabeth, Mo./St. Elizabeth) and
Avery English (Carterville, Ill./Carterville) who are each hitting .400.
Jacey Allen (Roanoke, Texas/Byron Nelson) leads the team in runs batted in with seven while
Savannah Fedorchak (Oakville, Mo./Oakville) has driven home five runs. Allen, Fedorchak and Franceschini are tied for the team lead in home runs with one each.

Kati Viets (Sweet Springs, Mo./Sweet Springs) and
Avery English (Carterville, Ill./Carterville) are each 1-1 with earned run averages of 6.00. English leads the team in strikeouts with nine while Viets has struck out three.
The Saints dropped three of four this past weekend down in Jackson, Tenn. They opened their season dropping a 3-2 contest in eight innings at Union last Friday.
They had a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seven but the Lady Bulldogs tied the game to forcing extra innings. Maryville scored a run in the top of the eighth but Union scored twice in the bottom of the frame to grab the victory.
On Saturday, the Saints split with Tusculum dropping the opener 3-1 then bounced back for a 3-0 win before ending the weekend with a 4-2 loss at Union.
Lincoln opened its season two weekends ago at the Ronnie Hawkins Invitational in Arkadelphia, Ark. The Blue Tigers lost to Northeastern State 9-1, Henderson State 8-1, Ouachita Baptist 8-0 and Rogers State 9-1.
Columbia College opened its season this past weekend at the Cowtown Classic in Fort Worth, Texas. The Cougars dropped their season opener to Oklahoma City 2-0 last Friday then bounced back to defeat Concordia (Neb.) 7-4 and Texas Wesleyan 9-7 on Friday. On Saturday, they knocked off Sterling (Kan.) 9-1 and Tabor (Kan.) 8-0.
