Volleyball hosts Hawks on Tuesday night

Rolla, Mo. – Missouri S&T's volleyball team returns home on Tuesday evening hosting Quincy in a 7 p.m. match at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building. This weekend, S&T (5-10, 1-5 GLVC) hits the road for a pair of matches at Indianapolis on Friday evening and Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday afternoon. The Miners return home next Tuesday to take on Lindenwood at 6 p.m.

S&T looks to snap a two match skid when it hosts the Hawks on Tuesday. The Miners suffered a pair of sweeps last week against Truman State and Rockhurst.
Offensively, S&T is averaging 13.3 kills per set but are hitting just .172 percent as team while allowing its opposition to hit .190. Emilee Schlader (Lewiston, Idaho/Lewiston) continues to lead the Miner attack averaging 3.02 kills per set while Carlie Combs (O'Fallon, Mo./St. Dominic) and Kyley Thompson (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) are averaging 2.59 and 2.02 kills per set respectively. Sarah McGinnis (Middleton, Wis./Edgewood) is dishing out 5.90 assists per set and Alexis White (Auburn, Wash./Riverside) is handing out 5.16 assists per set. On the defensive side of the ball, Calla Meyer (Clackamas, Ore./Clackamas) leads the team in blocks averaging 1.17 per set while Corinne Stulce (St. Charles, Mo./Duchesne) is averaging 4.40 digs per set.

Quincy enters Tuesday's match with a record of 2-13, 1-6 GLVC, has lost three straight and eight of their last nine overall. The Hawks went 0-3 last week dropping all three at home against Missouri-St. Louis in five sets, Indianapolis in four sets and Lewis in four sets.

Offensively, Quincy is averaging only 10.6 kills per set and is hitting only .120 percent as a team. Bekah Raebel leads the offensive charge averaging 2.76 kills per set while Taylor McMonagle is contributing 2.07 kills/set. Sara Rathbun is averaging 5.80 assists per set while Miranda Rodriguez is distributing 4.57 per set. Defensively, Jessica Licurgo is averaging 0.95 blocks per set and Marissa Gonzalez is averaging 5.34 digs per set.

After starting the season at 1-3 the Indianapolis Greyhounds have won eight of its last 11 matches overall and are 9-6, 4-2 in GLVC play heading into Tuesday night's match at Bellarmine. The Greyhounds won all three of their matches last weekend picking up a five set win at Wisconsin-Parkside, winning in four sets at Quincy and swept Maryville in St. Louis.

The 'Hounds are averaging 12.4 kills per set hand have an attack percentage of .215 while holding its opposition to just a .179 hitting percentage. Rachel Irbe leads the team with 2.74 kills per set while Anna Fehribach and Julia Kruzan are averaging 2.57 and 2.23 kills/set respectively. UIndy runs a two setter system with Alexis Waugh and Alyssa Spears. Waugh is handing out 5.65 assists per set and Spears is distributing 4.49 assists/set. Defensively, Olivia Martin is averaging 4.90 digs per set.

Wisconsin-Parkside also got off to a slow start this season dropping six of its first eight contests but has rebounded to win five of its last seven heading into Tuesday night's match against third ranked Lewis. The Rangers won two of three last week falling to UIndy in five sets then bounced back to sweep Maryville and Missouri-St. Louis on the road over the weekend.

UWP is averaging 11.5 kills per set as a team and have an attack percentage of .162 while holding its opponents to a .161 hitting percentage. The Rangers have four players averaging over two kills per set led by Rachel Hedman at 2.66. Lexie Calloway is averaging 2.58 kills/set, Leah Fenske is contributing 2.52 per set and Lexi Turek is adding 2.45 per set. Katie Adams runs the offense distributing 9.26 assists per set. Defensively, Parkside is averaging 2.36 blocks per set as a team and are led in blocks by Turek who is averaging 1.14 per set. Annie Leo leads the squad and is ranked fourth in the GLVC in digs averaging 5.22 per set.

Lindenwood is 10-8, 2-3 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. After losing six straight matches the Lions have bounced back picking up wins last weekend at Emporia State and Washburn. Lindenwood is home this weekend for a pair of matches against Missouri Southern and Southwest Baptist.

The Lions are averaging 12.5 kills per set as a team and have an attack percentage of .217 and have held their opposition to a .168 hitting percentage. Emily Wylie is one of five players averaging over two kills per set leading the way with 2.71 per set. Sadie Kosciuk, Alex Bogusz, Alex Dahlstrom and Haley Sigel are averaging 2.27, 2.24, 2.24 and 2.06 respectively. Ivy Reynolds and Allyson Clancy are the primary setters averaging 5.61 and 4.88 assists per set apiece. Bogusz and Kosciuk lead the team in blocking averaging 1.11 and 1.00 per set. Megan Hellwege leads the team in digs averaging 5.89 per set.
