Indianapolis, Ind. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners trailed by four points with 7:40 left to go in the second quarter but a 19-4 run by Indianapolis over the final 5:34 of the frame was too much to overcome as the Greyhounds (10-5, 4-1 GLVC) went into the locker room with a 15-point lead.
UIndy was without the services of Sydney Brackemyer, its leading scorer who averages 18 points a game, but Jordan Cole came off the bench and was unstoppable scoring 15 of her 17 points in the first 20 minutes on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and was 2-of-3 from the three-point line. Nicole Anderson led all scorers with 20 points while Sarah Costello dropped home 19. The Greyhounds shot 50 percent (30-for-60) from the field, hit 7-of-16 attempts from three and shot 63 percent at the foul line. They outrebounded the Lady Miners (6-8, 1-5 GLVC) 44-to-30.
S&T struggled to get into a rhythm offensively shooting just 36 percent (20-for-56) from the field and was only 3-of-16 from downtown and 12-for-21 at the foul line.
Elsie Greenwood (Breckenridge, Mo./Penney High School) was the lone Lady Miner to reach double figures with 16 points.
Maddie Raley (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) added eight points while
Joe'l Bland (St. Charles, Mo./Homeschooled) added seven points and five rebounds.
S&T is back in action on Saturday afternoon when it travels to Rensselaer, Ind., to take on Saint Joseph's College in a 1 p.m. tip-off.
