Lady Miners host Saint Joseph’s and Indianapolis to begin GLVC play

Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners continue its three-match homestand this weekend welcoming Saint Joseph's and Indianapolis to Rolla for the start of Great Lakes Valley Conference play. The Lady Miners host the Pumas on Friday evening beginning at 5 p.m. and conclude the homestand on Sunday against Indianapolis in a 12 p.m. kickoff.

S&T (0-1) and Saint Joseph's are both coming off losses in their respective season openers. The Lady Miners made a valiant comeback but came up a goal short in a 4-3 loss to Lindenwood on Tuesday while Saint Joseph's (0-1) suffered a 4-0 defeat at Ferris State this past Sunday.

Anna Fink (Fulton, Mo./Fulton) and Julia Crets (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) each had a goal and an assist in the loss on Tuesday while Mikaela Mockenhaupt (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) added a goal as well. Julie Bride (Stilwell, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas) registered three shots while Mockenhaupt and Leah Camery (Anchorage, Alaska/Steller Secondary School) had two shots each.

The Pumas were outshot 31-11 in their loss to the Bulldogs, but were only outshot 14-7 in shots on goal. Saint Joseph's will be without defender Sarah Emerson who picked up two yellow cards in the game on Sunday. Melissa Kuhar got the start in goal stopping 10 of 14 shots in the loss.

Indianapolis is 1-1 on the year heading into Friday's matchup at Drury. The Greyhounds opened their season with a win at Salem International last Saturday and are coming off a 2-0 loss at Saginaw Valley on Tuesday.

Sierra Singer and Stephanie Burdsall led the 'Hounds in scoring with seven points each (3 goals, 1 assist) while Kacey Wells has tallied six points (2 g, 2 a). Elizabeth Behrends and Amanda Meyer have each scored a pair of goals.

Emma Cremshaw has played a majority of the minutes in goal the first two games allowing two goals and made three saves in 16 shots faced.
