S&T falls to Quincy 3-1

Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners dropped a 3-1 decision to Quincy on Sunday at the S&T Soccer Field. The Lady Hawks (8-2-3, 5-2-3 GLVC) outshot the Lady Miners (1-10-1, 0-9-1 GLVC) 16-8 in the game but it was 8-5 in shots on goal.

Quincy opened the scoring in the ninth minute off a corner kick from Bailey Greubel. Ashley Burton took a shot that was blocked in the box and it fell to Taylor Lindwedel who hit a shot from the top of the box for her first of the season.

S&T evened the game in the 30th minute off a corner kick of its own. Kendall Fitzpatrick (Houston, Texas/Memorial ) played the ball in and it was cleared out. Taylor Vollmer (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) ran the ball down and played a ball across the field to Julie Bride (Stilwell, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas). Bride got around the defender, drove towards the endline and lofted a shot over the keeper's head for her second goal of the season.

The Lady Hawks scored the game-winner in the 37th minute off another corner kick. Natalie Quisenberry served it to Burton who volleyed it in from about 10 yards out.

The Lady Miners had a chance to tie the game in the 55th minute on header from Suzy DeWael (McCordsville, Ind./Mt. Vernon High School) that sailed high.

Quincy added to its lead in the 61st minute as Gabby Herrick ripped a shot from 25 yards out into the upper 90 off an assist from Burton.

S&T had a couple of opportunities following the goal but Catherine Hawn (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) was denied. The Lady Miners had a few other chances later in the half but were unable to get anything else past the keeper.
Hawn, DeWael and Bride had two shots each while Vollmer had one.

S&T continues its four match homestand on Friday hosting the Lewis Flyers at 5 p.m. at the S&T Soccer Field.
