Women’s Soccer returns home to face Tritons and Saints

(Rolla, Mo.) - The Missouri S&T women's soccer squad returns home this weekend looking to get back to .500 in Great Lakes Valley conference play and move up in the conference standings. Both the teams they're facing this weekend are currently ahead of them in the standings for a spot in the conference tournament.

S&T looks to break a two-game skid on Friday night when it hosts the Tritons of Missouri-St. Louis at 5 p.m. The Lady Miners have won four of the past five meetings against UMSL. The Tritons enter play this weekend with a record of 5-3 overall, 3-3 in the GLVC. UMSL dropped a pair of home decisions last weekend getting shut out by Rockhurst 2-0 and William Jewell 1-0.

The Tritons have scored 12 goals this season while yielding just five and are led in scoring by Laura Hurlbut with four goals and an assist for a total of nine points. Jen Eaton has scored two goals and assisted on two others while six others players have contributed a goal each. Megan Ohm has played every minute in goal and has a goals against average of 0.62, made 20 saves and posted four shutouts.

On Sunday, S&T welcomes Maryville to Rolla who enter Friday's match at Drury with a record of 3-3-2 overall, 2-3-1 in the GLVC. The Saints have scored 10 goals on the season and have conceded seven. Katy Rood leads the team in scoring with three goals and three assists for nine points while Amanda Wiechens has three goals and an assist for a total of seven points. Bailey Doerflinger has played a majority of the minutes in goal and posted a goals against average of 0.93 while making 26 saves and posting three shutouts. The Lady Miners have won 15 of the 20 meetings against the Saints all-time.
