Box Score (Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T volleyball team ran its win streak to three straight sweeping past Southern Indiana (25-19, 25-21, 25-20) on Sunday afternoon in Rolla. The Miners used a balanced offensive attack to earn just their second win against the Screaming Eagles.

The opening frame was tied at 11-11 when S&T (5-5, 3-1 GLVC) took control with a 6-1 run grabbing a 17-12 lead after a kill by Gracey Moon (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood). Southern Indiana (6-3, 2-2 GLVC) closed to within 17-15 on a double block by Amy Zwissler and Quin Shoultz, but wouldn't get any closer. The Miners responded strong scoring seven of the final 11 points to win the set on a kill from Krista Haslag (Linn, Mo./Helias ).

S&T hit .394 in the opening set registering 15 kills against two errors and were led by Ali Mueller's six kills while Haslag added four. The Screaming Eagles recorded 16 kills in the stanza but committed seven errors to finish with a hitting percentage of .231.

The second frame went back-and-forth for the first eight points before the Miners again took control with a 6-1 run. The lead eventually grew to six points before Southern Indiana rallied late getting to within 20-19 after a kill by Abbey Winter. That would be the closest they got though as S&T was able to close it out to win 25-21.

Both sides recorded 11 kills in the stanza, but the Miners committed one fewer error and recorded two service aces to pull it out. Claire Friedlund (Parkville, Mo./Park Hill South) paced the offense with four kills.

S&T started the third set strong racing out to a 3-0 lead only to see the Screaming Eagles counter with a 5-0 run to take the lead. The Miners trailed 10-8, but used a 5-1 run to regain the lead at 13-11 on back-to-back kills from Gracey Moon (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood). It was a lead that S&T wouldn't relinquish. USI closed to within 15-14, but the Miners ran off five of the next six points to reach 20 points first. The Screaming Eagles refused to go quietly getting to within 22-20. That would be the closest they got the rest of the way as S&T scored the last three points to complete the sweep.

The Miners finished the match recording 38 kills against 15 errors and had a hitting percentage of .205. Mueller paced the offense with 11 kills while Friedlund added 11 and Haslag finished with six.
