Miners announce additions to roster for 2014-15 season

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T men's basketball coach Jim Glash has announced the addition of several new players to the Miner roster for the upcoming 2014-15 season.  The new additions are as follows:

ERVIN SARAJILIC, a 6-5 200-pound wing from St. Louis, Mo.: Sarajilic averaged 19 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game at Oakville High School during the 2013-14 season, while shooting nearly 48 percent from the floor and connecting 29 times from three-point range.  He earned all-district and all-Suburban West honors on the floor and was also a member of the academic all-state team.

As a junior, Sarajilic averaged 15.5 points and 2.9 rebounds a contest, while adding 53 assists and 26 steals in a season in which he also shot 39 percent from three-point range.  Sarajilic plans to major in civil engineering at Missouri S&T.

CLEMENT BONARDO, a 6-4, 180-pound guard-forward from Toulon, France: Bonardo played for the last two seasons at Murray State College in Tishomingo, Okla.  Last season, Bonardo averaged 14.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest, while shooting 45.7 percent from the floor, 44.8 percent from three-point range – going 26-of-58 from beyond the arc – and 76.4 percent at the free throw line.  As a freshman, Bonardo averaged 3.6 points a game while shooting 44 percent overall and 47.6 percent from long range.  Prior to playing at Murray State, Bonardo played for Hyeres-Toulon in France for two seasons.

Bonardo plans to major in petroleum engineering at Missouri S&T.

DESMOND BUERGE, a 6-5, 185-pound guard from Carthage, Mo.: Buerge spent last season at Cameron University after playing one year at Missouri State University-West Plains, where he averaged 8.2 points and two rebounds a game while scoring in double figures 14 times.  At Cameron, he played in just eight games a year ago, scoring 2.5 points a contest.

At Carthage High School, Buerge scored 1,512 points and averaged 24 points a game in his senior year.  He also pulled down 4.5 rebounds a contest and shot 55 percent from the field, 70 percent at the free throw line and made 33 percent of his tries from three-point range.  He earned first-team all-state honors following the 2011-12 season and was a first-team all-conference and all-district selection as well. 

Buerge, who plans to major in business at Missouri S&T, earned all-conference laurels in each of his three seasons at the varsity level at Carthage.

BROOKS GERRITY, a 6-2, 160-pound guard from Marquette High School in Chesterfield, Mo.: Gerrity averaged 16.2 points and 3.7 rebounds a game last season, while connecting 68 times from three-point range at a clip of 36.4 percent. 
He was the second-best free throw shooter among all players in the St. Louis area last season, making 104-of-116 for a mark of 89.7 percent.  Gerrity averaged 12.9 points as a junior with 58 three-point field goals, while as a sophomore, he was part of a Marquette team that finished fourth in the Missouri Class 5 state tournament and made a team-high 31 treys along the way. 

Gerrity earned second-team all-league and all-district honors in the Suburban West Conference after the 2013-14 season and was also an all-conference pick following his junior year.  He plans to major in petroleum engineering at Missouri S&T.

JAMES GLEESON, a 6-4, 212-pound wing from St. Charles, Mo.: Gleeson earned first-team all-conference honors in the Gateway Athletic Conference's South Division following the 2013-14 season at Francis Howell North, as he averaged 19.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest.  He shot 49 percent from the floor overall and 36 percent from three-point range, while connecting on 76.9 percent of his free throw attempts as he went to the line 186 times during the year.   He also averaged just over two assists and one steal per game.

As a junior, he scored 7.8 points a game and averaged 8.5 points per contest in his sophomore season at Francis Howell North.  Gleeson plans to major in engineering at Missouri S&T.

MATT KELLY, a 6-2, 185-pound guard from Columbia, Mo.: Kelly played previously at Rock Bridge High School and Moberly Area Community College, where he averaged 5.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game during the 2013-14 season.  Kelly posted a 2.1-to-one assist-to-turnover ratio during the most recent year and also shot over 80 percent at the free throw line.  As a freshman, Kelly played at North Central Missouri College, where he averaged 15.4 points a game and shot 53 percent from the field, while averaging 2.6 assists a contest.  Kelly averaged 10 points, four rebounds and nearly three assists a game as a senior at Rock Bridge during the 2010-11 season when the Bruins played in the Missouri Class 5 Final Four.

Kelly will major in business at Missouri S&T.

B.J. McLAUGHLIN, a 6-5, 195-pound wing from St. Louis, Mo.: McLaughlin played last season at Moberly Area Community College, where he averaged 4.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest last season.  He was a solid all-around player for the Greyhounds in their 23-9 campaign, as he added 11 steals, eight blocked shots and seven assists while shooting 45.1 percent from the floor.

He spent his freshman season at the University of Tennessee-Martin, where he averaged 3.9 points and 2.9 rebounds a game while starting nine of 29 games for the Skyhawks.  He also had 22 assists, 14 steals and six blocked shots in the 2012-13 season. McLaughlin played his high school basketball at Hazelwood Central High School, where he averaged 11.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in his senior year and double figures at 10.5 points in his junior season.

He plans to major in biological sciences at Missouri S&T.

JUWAN MILLER, a 5-11, 160-pound guard from Kitchener, Ontario: Miller, a point guard, played at Huron Heights High School, where he was one of the top-ranked players at his position in Canada.  He was a first-team all-star in the WCSSA league and part of Ontario's Under-17 squad.  Miller plans to major in business at Missouri S&T.

MARCUS WALDEN, a 6-4, 185-pound wing from Augusta, Ga.: Walden has spent the last two seasons at Northwest Kansas Technical College, where last season he averaged 8.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.  He was a 54.9 percent shooter from the floor last season and also added 21 steals, 19 assists and nine blocked shots to help the team finish 20-13. 

In the 2012-13 season, Walden scored 9.5 points and pulled down 4.7 rebounds a contest while shooting 52 percent from the floor.  In high school, Walden averaged at the Academy of Richmond County, where he was named as his team's most valuable offensive player.    Walden plans to major in business at Missouri S&T.
