Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (Quincy, Ill.) – Kyra Slemp (Roeland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) hit two home runs on Sunday but it wasn't enough as the Missouri S&T Lady Miners dropped both ends of twin bill at Quincy 3-2 and 10-3 on Sunday afternoon in Quincy, Ill. S&T struggled to get its offense going as it was held to just four hits in each game.

The Lady Hawks (16-18, 8-10 GLVC) got a two-out single in the home half of the first to plate the first run of the contest. The Lady Miners (5-20, 2-12 GLVC) tied the game in the top of the second. Cailey Baker (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield) led off the inning with a hit-by-pitch, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Adrienne Kruse (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) and went to third on groundout by Savannah Fedorchak (Oakville, Mo./Oakville). Dana Lawson (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) then drove her in with a double to right field.

Quincy regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a wind aided home run to right off the bat of Emma Topps. S&T tied the game again in the sixth when Slemp connected for her first home run of the season. She hit a 0-1 pitch to right leading off the frame. The Lady Hawks answered in the home half of the inning. With two outs Topps stole second and went to third on a throwing error by Lori Badalamenti (Wentzville, Mo./Timberland ). Topps scored on a single to left center off the bat of Jill Sullentrop for the winning run.

The Lady Miners were retired in order in the seventh to end the game. Slemp, Lawson, Andi Davis (Blue Springs, Mo./Archbishop O'Hara ) and Shelby Michaelis (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) accounted for S&T's four hits. Bethany Rader (Memphis, Mo./Scotland County ) was the tough luck loser allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits in six innings. She struck out five while walking only two.

The second game was scoreless until Quincy erupted for five runs after the first two hitters were retired in the second. Rachel Scrum hit a solo home run on a 1-2 pitch to right center to break the tie. After a walk and a single Alanna Viken doubled to left to make it 2-0. Mackenzie Fox then made it 4-0 on a single to right. Jessica Grimes capped the scoring with a single to right.

The Lady Hawks added two more runs in the third on a two-run home run by Kelsey Ley. Ley hit the first pitch she saw over the fence in center field.

The Lady Miners cut into the deficit scoring three times in the fourth inning. Davis led off the inning with a bunt single and then stole second. She came around to score on Michaelis's single to left center. Slemp followed that up with a two-run shot to center field. That would be the only runs the offense could muster as S&T was held to just three base runners over the final three innings.

Quincy added three more runs in the sixth for the final margin.

Davis, Michaelis, Slemp and Fedorchak had the lone hits for the Lady Miners in the nightcap. Amber Duncan (Centralia, Mo./Centralia) took the loss allowing five runs on six hits in 1.2 innings. She struck out two, but walked one.

S&T is scheduled to be back in action this Wednesday when it travels to Springfield, Mo., to take on the Drury Lady Panthers in a GLVC doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
