ROLLA, Mo. -- Missouri S&T dropped its exhibition opener to Lindenwood-Belleville 74-55 on Saturday afternoon in Rolla, Mo. The Lynx hit 13 three-pointers in the contest compared to four for the Lady Miners.
Sandra Douvier (Segwick, Kan./Sunrise Christian Academy) led S&T with 14 points and 10 rebounds while
Jamy Douvier (Sedgwick, Kan./Sunrise Christian Academy) added 12 points.
Lindenwood-Belleville led by as many as 12 points in the opening 20 minutes, but the Lady Miners were able to trim the lead to 28-23 with 5:20 to play in the half after a pair of free throws by
Joe'l Bland (St. Charles, Mo./Homeschooled). The Lynx countered finishing the half on a 10-4 run to head into the locker room with an 11-point advantage.
LWU-Belleville continued its hot shooting in the second half building a 24-point advantage at one point. The Lynx had had four players finish in double figures led by LaTonya Shade with a game-high 26 points. Kindra Brown added 16, Shelby Kohrmann had 15 and Torre Kohrmann finished with 10. Belleville finished the contest shooting 46.4 percent from the field and from behind the arc and were 9-for-9 at the charity stripe.
S&T finished the game shooting 18-of-57 (31.6 percent) from the floor, shot 44 percent (4-for-9) from three and was 15-of-20 at the foul line. The Lady Miners outrebounded the Lynx 39-33.
S&T plays one more exhibition game next Saturday at Missouri-Kansas City beginning at 4:30 p.m.
