Women’s soccer closes out regular season with trip to Drury on Wednesday night

(Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T women's soccer closes out the regular season on Wednesday night traveling to Springfield to take on Drury in a 5 p.m. contest at Harrison Stadium. The Lady Miners have already clinched a spot in the GLVC Tournament and a win over the Panthers would move S&T up to fifth in the conference standings. A loss on the other hand means the Lady Miners could finish anywhere from sixth to eighth depending on other outcomes in the league.

S&T (8-8, 8-6 GLVC) has won eight of its last 12 games since starting the season 0-4 and is looking for its first win over Drury (9-4-3, 7-4-3 GLVC) since a 1-0 decision in 2009. Since both schools joined the GLVC back in 2005 the Panthers hold a 4-1-4 edge in the series with all five games decided by a goal.

Sabrina Hostler (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) continues to lead the Lady Miner attack with her seven goals and two assists while Julie Bride (Stilwell, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas) has scored four goals and assisted on another. Kaitlyn Deister (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) is currently tied for second all-time in school history with Lisa Frumhauf for career shutouts with 14.

Drury enters play on Wednesday night having won five of its past seven games overall and is riding a 12 match unbeaten streak at home dating back to last season (9-0-3). Last weekend the Panthers suffered a 3-0 loss at Rockhurst and then defeated William Jewell 3-1 at home on Sunday.

Drury has scored 28 goals which is fourth best in the GLVC while allowing 15 goals. Shelby Hatz leads the Panthers with her seven goals scored while Emily Cline leads the team in scoring with 17 points (5 goals, 7 assists). Mariah Gove has also tallied five goals for the year. Tina Haberberger has played a majority of the minutes in goal and has a goals against average of 0.94, has made 71 saves and posted four shutouts.
