Box Score (Louisville, Ky.) – Turnovers proved to be the story of the game for the Missouri S&T Lady Miners as it turned the ball over a season-high 26 times in an 85-65 loss to the Bellarmine Knights at Knights Hall in Louisville, Ky.

S&T (5-8, 1-4 GLVC) fell behind early 11-2, before scoring nine of the next 12 points to cut the deficit to 14-11 by the 13:32 mark. The Knights (6-6, 2-2 GLVC) countered that run with six straight of their own to push the margin to nine points nearly two minutes later. That lead would eventually grow to 13 points with under seven minutes to go on a fastbreak layup by Kelsey Lamb. The Lady Miners than began to chip away at the lead cutting the deficit to just seven with less than a minute to play in the half and had a chance to get even closer, but turned it over on the break.

S&T shot 56 percent (14-for-25) from the field in the opening half, but went 0-of-5 from three and was 5-for-7 at the charity stripe. Mia Wesley (Philadelphia, Pa./John Bartram) had 13 points at the break to lead all scorers while Karli Sample (St. Joseph, Mo./Benton) added eight and Kylie Cooper (Andover, Kan./Andover) dropped home six.

S&T scored four of the first six points to begin the second half to cut the Bellarmine lead to 42-37 just two minutes into the second half. The Knights stretched the lead back to nine, but the Lady Miners countered that run with five straight points to cut the deficit to 50-46 on an old-fashioned three-point play from Senait McLeod (Miami, Fla./Coral Reef) with less than 13 minutes to play.

From that point it was all Bellarmine as it outscored S&T 22-6 over the next seven minutes to build a 72-52 lead. That lead grew to 24 points before the Lady Miners trimmed the deficit to 17 points with less than a minute left in the contest.

S&T finished the game shooting 54 percent (27-for-50) from the field, but was just 1-of-8 from beyond the arc. It did convert on 10 of 13 attempts at the foul line, but the turnovers resulted in 28 points for the Knights.
