Box Score (Evansville, Ind.) – The Missouri S&T volleyball team found themselves in an early hole which it was unable to recover from in a 3-0 (14-25, 12-25, 26-28) loss at Southern Indiana on Saturday evening. The Miners (6-5, 2-1 GLVC) had a difficult time getting their offense going in the first two sets registering a total of eight kills.

S&T scored the first point of the match before the Screaming Eagles (8-3, 2-1 GLVC) ran off the next six to force a timeout by the Miners. S&T had no answer for the USI attack as it stretched its lead to 13-5 on a kill by Fawn Ryan. The Miners trimmed the lead to 16-11 scoring six of the next nine points, but that would be the closest they got as the Screaming Eagles finished the set on a 9-3 run.

USI started the second set on a 12-1 run and wouldn't look back on its way to the 25-12 victory. The Screaming Eagles had an attack percentage of .324 and finished with 13 kills while S&T was held to .000 attack percentage.

The third set saw USI open by scoring the first six points of the set and it appeared it would cost to the victory. The Miners responded though and eventually caught the Screaming Eagles at 12-12 on a kill by Alison Mueller (Bartelso, Ill./Mater Dei ). S&T took its first lead since early in the match on another kill by Mueller, but USI countered with a 5-1 run to take a 21-18 lead. Once again the Miners responded eventually tying the set at 23-all on an error by USI. S&T staved off three match points from the Screaming Eagles, but couldn't stave off a fourth as Allie Plunk (Hurst, Texas/Birdville) was called for a ball handling error to end the match.

The Miners finished the match with an attack percentage of .056 recording 26 kills against 19 errors in 125 attempts. 18 of those kills came in the final set as S&T hit .143 in the final set. Gracey Moon (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood) led the way with six kills while Krista Haslag (Linn, Mo./Helias ) and Hayley Wright (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) had five each. Plunk finished with 24 assists while Caitlin Brocker (Crystal Lake, Ill./Marian Central ) had 15 digs.

USI finished the match with an attack percentage of .161 (39k/19e/124ta). Lauren DeShaney had a match high 16 kills while Ryan added nine more. Jorae Bradbury distributed 29 assists while Kayla Heldman had 21 digs.
