Box Score (Florence, Ala.) – The Missouri S&T volleyball squad dropped a hard fought four set match to Rollins 3-1 (28-26, 23-25, 21-25, 21-25) at the North Alabama Classic on Friday evening. The match featured 28 ties and 13 lead changes.

Rollins (6-0) led by as many as three for a majority of the opening set. S&T (3-3) rallied to tie and eventually took the lead on double block by Hayley Wright (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) and Shelby Wagner (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit) to make it 23-22. The Tars tied it on a service error, but the Miners got to set point first on kill by Wright. Rollins got to set point twice, but S&T answered each time. The Miners got to their second set point on a double block by Alison Mueller (Bartelso, Ill./Mater Dei ) and Krista Haslag (Linn, Mo./Helias ). Allie Plunk (Hurst, Texas/Birdville) then ended the set with a kill from Mueller to give S&T a 28-26 win.

The Tars raced out to a three-point lead again in set two, but the Miners battled back to tie it at 12-all on a ball handling error. The two sides started swapping points and remained tied at 22 when Rollins took the lead on a kill from Camille Indest. An ace by Ruth Harrington put the Tars ahead 24-22. S&T cut the deficit to one, but Indest ended the set with a kill to even the match at 1-1.

Rollins scored seven of the first eight points to begin the third set. The Miners would chip away at the lead and get to within a point multiple teams but never could get over the hump as the Tars went on to take a 25-21 victory.

It was S&T's turn to take the early lead in set four as it raced out to an early 5-1 edge. The lead wouldn't last though as Rollins went on a 14-6 run to take a 15-11 midway through the frame. The Miners closed to within two points on two different occasions, but just like the third set could never get over the hump as the Tars won 25-21.
