ROLLA, Mo. – An early event sweep and a total of five events wins between
Ethan Goldfarb (Arlington, Texas/The Oakridge School) and
Aljaz Kerc (Ljubljana, Slovenia/Gimnazija Bezigrad) helped lead the Miners to a dual meet win Friday over Delta State at the S&T Pool by a count of
121-84.
The Miners had a sweep of the top three spots in the 200-yard freestyle, won by
Luke Norris (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) with a time of 1:42.88.
Jon Glaser (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) finished second in 1:43.09 and
Drew Larkins (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central) came in third with a time of 1:43.87.
Goldfarb recorded his wins in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:53.49, the 400-yard individual medley in 4:10.67 and 100-yard breaststroke in 58.60 seconds. Kerc won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.62 seconds and later captured first in the 100-freestyle in 47.40 seconds.
Glaser also had an individual win as he won the 500-yard freestyle by over six seconds in a time of 4:42.98. In addition, S&T – which won eight of the 11 events Friday -- won the 400-yard freestyle relay as the quartet of Norris, Kerc, Glaser and
Keith Sponsler (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln East) posted a time of 3:07.06
Besides Glaser's second place showing in the 200-free, S&T also got seconds from
Luis Nesrala (Santo Domingo, D.R./Colegio Amador) in the 50-freestyle in 21.76 seconds and 100-backstroke in 54.15 seconds,
Ryan Layne (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) in the 400-IM in 4:16.06,
Colton Krause (Bartlesville, Okla./Bartlesville) in the 100-yard butterfly in 51.31 seconds.
S&T finished second in the 400-yard medley relay as the team of Layne, Larkins, Krause and Sponsler posted a time of 3:30.14, just 0.17 seconds off the winning time.
Layne had a third place effort in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.08 seconds as did Norris in the 100-freestyle in 47.93 seconds.
Missouri S&T's next meet will take place on Nov. 22 and 23 at the Drury Invitational in Springfield, Mo.
