The Miners closed the gap to four on a double block by Krista Haslag (Linn, Mo./Helias ) and Ciara Sebelius (Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada/Westwood Collegiate Inst.); however, S&T was unable to get any closer as the Rangers got a kill from Makenzie Fahnestock on the next point to end it.

After an early tie in the fourth, the Miners grabbed a lead they wouldn't relinquish. S&T led by as many as six late in the set and eventually won it on a kill by Hayley Wright (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) to force the fifth and deciding set.

Parkside raced out to a 6-3 lead to begin the finale before the Miners came back to tie it with three straight points. It didn't stay tied for long as the Rangers used a 7-2 run to grab a 13-8 advantage.
