ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – For the second day in succession, Lewis University knocked off Missouri S&T's swimming team in a dual meet as the Flyers took a
112-89 decision from the Miners Saturday afternoon.
The Miners had four winning performances on Saturday, two from junior
Ethan Goldfarb (Arlington, Texas/The Oakridge School) for the second day in succession. Goldfarb captured firsts in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:58.21 and later in the 200-yard breaststroke with a mark of 2:07.18.
The other first place finishes came from freshmen, as
Jon Glaser (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:47.10 and
Colton Krause (Bartlesville, Okla./Bartlesville) took first in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:54.96
Aljaz Kerc (Ljubljana, Slovenia/Gimnazija Bezigrad) was second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.54 and in the 100-freestyle in 47.40 seconds, as was
Keith Sponsler (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln East) in the 50-freestyle in 21.89 seconds, Goldfarb in the 200-butterfly in 1:58.07,
Drew Larkins (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central) in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:04.10 and Glaser in the 500-freestyle in 4:54.02
Both of S&T's relays finished second as well, with the 400-yard medley relay quartet of
Chris Lohff (Powder Springs, Ga./Hillgrove), Larkins,
Chase Davis (Tulsa, Okla./Union) and
Luke Norris (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) recording a time of 3:40.06 and the 400-freestyle team of Glaser, Norris, Kerc and Sponsler finishing in a time of 3:11.13.
Third place performances were recorded by Krause in the 200-freestyle in 1:49.16, Norris in the 50-free in 22.52 seconds, Davis in the 200-IM in 2:01.28, Lohff in the 200-backstroke in 2:08.20, Sponsler in the 500-freestyle in a time of 4:54.97 and Larkins in the 200-breaststroke in 2:15.23.
The Miners' next competition will take place at the Lindenwood Quadrangular meet on Nov. 2 in St. Peters, Mo.
