(Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T women's soccer team will be back out on the road this weekend traveling to St. Louis for a pair of conference matches against Maryville on Friday and Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday. With a pair of wins the Lady Miners can move back to .500 for the season.
S&T looks to rebound after a tough weekend at home. The Lady Miners got off to a good start last weekend snapping a four game losing streak against Bellarmine with a 1-1 draw in double overtime last Friday. It was the first time since 2007 that S&T has tied with the Knights.
On Sunday the Lady Miners fell behind by two goals in the first half and were unable to recover from the early deficit in the 3-0 loss to McKendree.
Sarah Hostler (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) leads the team in scoring with four points and goals with two.
Catherine Hawn (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) has tallied three points with a goal and an assist while
Leah Camery (Anchorage, Alaska/Steller Secondary School) has scored one goal.
Madison Gibler (Kansas City, Mo./Staley) and
Kaitlyn Deister (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) have each started three games in goal and have allowed only eight goals. Each goalie has a shutout this season.
Maryville enters play this weekend with a record of 0-7-1 overall, 0-5-1 in the GLVC. The Saints have scored a total of five goals this season while allowing 21. Amanda Wiechens leads the team in scoring with nine points and goals with four. Shannon Foley has added a goal and an assist. Mandy Browning has played a majority of the minutes in goal allowing 20 goals while making 36 saves and has a goals against average of 3.03.
Missouri-St. Louis has a mark of 4-4 and is 2-4 in league play. The Tritons entertain Drury on Friday evening before hosting S&T on Sunday. UMSL has scored eight goals on the season while allowing 10. Jessica Mincher has scored three of those goals and has a team high six points. Hannah Kaloupek has two goals and four points while Hunter Wagoner has a goal and an assist. Kaitlyn Smugala and Christine Lips have split time in goal this season combining for three shutouts and have made 40 saves.
