Box Score ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T led from start to finish Saturday night in a contest that turned one-sided almost from the beginning, as the Miners rolled to a 67-point win with a
97-30 rout of Baptist Bible at Billy Key Court.
The Miners scored the game's first eight points in the opening 90 seconds of the contest, led 21-5 by the 13:02 mark and added a 21-0 run late in the first half as they led 54-13 by the intermission. The second half was more of the same, as S&T shot 51.6 percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes and outscored the Patriots 43-17.
Much of the early scoring came from
Michael Nesbitt (Evansville, Ind./LaLumiere School), who hit a pair of three-pointers in that opening stretch, then
Nusrath Khan (Morton Grove, Ill./Maine East) got into the act later in the half as he and Nesbitt had 14 points apiece by the intermission – or more individually than Baptist Bible had scored as a team during the first half.
Missouri S&T finished the night with five players in double figures, led by Nesbitt with a career-high 22 points. Khan and
Bryce Foster (Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood Central) scored 16 apiece, while
Eli Steinbeck (Hermann, Mo./Hermann) scored a career-high 13 and Zach Ellis finished with 10.
The Miners, who shot 62.5 percent in the first half and finished at 57.1 percent, also had a 15-rebound advantage of 45-30 in the game.
George Lee was the only Patriot in double figures with 10 points, as Baptist Bible made only 11-of-55 (20 percent) from the floor in the contest. The Patriots dropped to 2-15 on the season.
Missouri S&T will return to the floor Dec. 19 when it hosts Lindenwood at 7:30 p.m.
