(Columbia, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners fell to the 11
th ranked Missouri Tigers
8-0 in five innings on Wednesday afternoon in Columbia, Mo.
The game was scoreless through the first two innings before the Tigers (34-8) broke through with a five spot in the bottom of the third. Rhea Taylor got Mizzou on the board with a three-run homer to start the scoring. They went onto add a pair of unearned runs in the inning as well.
S&T (24-19) got its lone base runner of the game on with two outs in the fourth when Kristen Drage reached on an error by the second baseman.
The Tigers added one more in the fourth then scored their final two in the fifth to invoke the run rule.
The Lady Miner offense struggled to figure Kristin Nottlemann as she held them hitless while striking out 10 batters.
Ashley Wallingford got the start throwing the first three innings for S&T allowing five runs, three earned, on four hits while walking two and striking out two. Briana Catanese tossed the fourth inning allowing a run on two hits while Taylor Keal pitched the fifth allowing a pair of runs on three hits and issued two free passes.
S&T has its final home games of the season this weekend beginning on Saturday with a doubleheader against Central Methodist beginning at 12 p.m. On Sunday the Lady Miners take on Maryville University in a GLVC doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
