Lady Miners breeze past Blue Tigers 95-48

Box Score (Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners had no problems with the Lincoln Blue Tigers on Thursday night leading from start to finish in its 95-48 win in Rolla. S&T recorded season-highs in points (95), three-point field goals (12), field goals made (36) and steals (17).

The Lady Miners (12-11) opened the game on an 18-2 run and never looked back. Brittany Percival, Jazmine Bell and Julie Meyer accounted for 16 of their first 18 points in the run as S&T made 8 of its first 13 field goal attempts.

D'Naya Mims gave the Lady Miners a 20 point lead at the 8:58 mark before the Blue Tigers (10-12) scored 9 of the next 11 points to get within 13 points with 5:31 to play.

It would be the closest they got though as S&T ran off seven straight building its lead back to 20. The lead eventually grew to 50-20 on a layup by Bell with 0:43 left in the half.

The Lady Miners dominated the stat sheet in the opening frame outscoring Lincoln 24-10 in the paint, 23-2 in points off turnovers, 8-0 in fast break points and 16-5 in bench points.

S&T shot 63.3 percent (19-for-30) from the floor and were 5-of-8 from downtown. It held the Blue Tigers to just 30 percent shooting (7-of-23) in the stanza.

Bell and Meyer finished the frame with 13 and 10 points respectively.

The second half wasn't much different from the first as the Lady Miners ran off 14 of the first 16 points building its lead to 42. Percival scored 10 of those points in the run while Hailee Parks had the other four.

S&T led 73-26 nearly midway through the second half as the lead dipped under 40 only once the remainder of the game. The lead grew to as many as 49 on a jumper by Mims with 3:21 left.

Shooting wise the Lady Miners cooled in the second frame slightly making only 17-of-31 (54.8 percent) from the floor but were on fire from behind the three-point line going 7-for-8.

The Lady Miners outscored Lincoln 40-24 in the paint and 40-9 in points off turnovers. Their bench outscored the Blue Tigers by a 43-to-11 margin.

Nine different players made a basket in the game for S&T as it finished the contest shooting 59 percent (36-of-61) from the floor and 12-for-17 (70.6 percent) from three.

Percival led five S&T players in double figures with 16 points. Bell finished with 13, Meyer and Mims had 12 apiece while Downs dropped in 10.

Ashley Norris and Stacey Smith had 14 and 10 respectively to pace Lincoln.

The Lady Miners continue their three-game home stand on Saturday when they host Maryville University (Mo.) in a GLVC doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
