(Owensboro, Ky.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners took care of business on Friday evening downing the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers
3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-16) in Owensboro, Ky.
The Lady Miners (10-23, 5-6 GLVC) dominated throughout the match as they hit over 20 percent in all three sets while holding the Panthers (1-27, 0-11 GLVC) to a negative .063 hitting percentage in the contest.
S&T won the opening set getting 11 kills in 23 chances while defensively it held the KWC offense to just four kills in 32 chances forcing five errors to take the game 25-16.
The second frame was the Lady Miners best of the evening as they hit a match-high .259 percent with 14 kills in 27 chances while holding the Panthers to just three kills against six errors in 22 chances (-.136 percent) to win 25-15.
S&T put the match away in the third set again getting 11 kills and hit 21.4 percent to win 25-16.
The Lady Miners finished the evening with 36 kills against only 13 for Kentucky Wesleyan and had 14 service aces and seven total blocks as they recorded their 10th win of the season and moved into a tie for ninth place with Bellarmine in the conference standings and are just one game behind for a possible spot in the GLVC Post-Season Tournament.
Erin Bekebrede and Julie Meyer had nine kills apiece for S&T while Samantha Klump finished with eight kills, three total blocks and a pair of service aces. Danielle Kracl finished with 21 assists and Bridget Williams had 11 digs to go along with four service aces.
S&T concludes its road trip with a match in Evansville, Ind., on Saturday afternoon against Southern Indiana beginning at 3 p.m.
